i just wish he would take it off when working outside.

sweetcat · 16/11/2007 15:27

Oh dear, is there no chance of findng it?

oranges · 16/11/2007 15:29

i lost my engagement ring. the fact that df did not get angry convinced me I was doing the right thing marrying him.

TinyGang · 16/11/2007 15:29

Oh dear. Maybe his hands were cold. Rings always seem loose when your hands are cold.

Go back and look and look. Or is it a 'could be anywhere' scenario. Hope it turns up.

yogimum · 16/11/2007 15:29

He think he had it on at lunchtime when he went to Halfords. He has been sifting the soil in the garden for the last hour (using my colander from the kitchen)

DH has had two engagements rings, he lost both. He is on his 3rd engagement ring but thankfully has not lost his wedding ring as we have a matching pair.
Would have to have one made if he lost it.

yogimum · 16/11/2007 15:31

yes his hands were cold. Anyone know where we can hire a metal detector?

yogimum · 16/11/2007 19:11

I've given him such a hard time about it, haven't cooked him any dinner.

Tortington · 16/11/2007 19:12

it was an accident give the guy a break

CodDickinson · 16/11/2007 19:13

mine lsot his in a month
was glad
it was a size x and so was HUGE

Mercy · 16/11/2007 19:17

Agree with custardo. I don't understand why you are so angry - did it cost mega bucks or something?

2shoes · 16/11/2007 19:17

yabu
dh lost his and was gutted. he felt so bad no way would i have given him a hard time.

LoveMyGirls · 16/11/2007 19:19

I'd be angry if he took it off for a night out, not if he lost in the garden working his hands to the bone in this freezing weather, go and give him a cuddle run him a jhot bath and let him feel that your marriage is about more than a ring........

yogimum · 16/11/2007 19:19

it cost £1000, its not about the money but the fact if he valued it he would take it off when digging the garden/remember when he last had it on.

I think that you are vastly overeacting...its your marraige thats important not some bit of gold.

chankins · 16/11/2007 19:21

Dh lost his twice - found it the first time, dd1 has hidden it in a little bag. The second time he was digging holes in the sand at the beach with the kids, so no hope of ever finding it !!
I was annoyed, but not really at him, these things happen. I had been on at him to get it made smaller though, as it was too big.
Would be way more gutted if I lost mine or my engagement ring.

unknownrebelbang · 16/11/2007 19:23

If I'm honest,I would be cross too, but I still think YABU.

Glimmer of hope though - a friend of ours lost his ring when we went out for a drink just before Christmas one year...only to rediscover it the following year. It had somehow got into one of the decorations and got put away undiscovered, only to be found the following year when they got the decs out again.

Not the same scenario, I know.

yogimum · 16/11/2007 19:23

I would be gutted if I lost my rings even take them off to wash up.

morningpaper · 16/11/2007 19:25

lolololol @ "I'd be angry if he took it off for a night out"

I agree, give him a break - it was an accident.

AngharadGoldenhand · 16/11/2007 19:25

YABU, sorry.

Dh lost his - you have to be realistic, it's only a bit of metal.

Flame · 16/11/2007 19:28

Surely it is nicer that he wants to wear his ring all the time?

DH only wears his on nights out because it is uncomfortable (he has bulky knuckles so he needed a ring big enough to go over them, but then it spins where the rest of his finger is smaller)

Mercy · 16/11/2007 19:29

Blimey, our wedding rings cost about £70 each.

I haven't even worn mine for about 3 years.

It's the vow not the symbol that counts.

Flame · 16/11/2007 19:33

I miss my ring. I lost weight and it was too big, refused to get it shrunk until the weight has been off a year (next March), so bought a cheapy replacement one - and it is all rough on the edges. I have eczema on my ring finger and the roughness of the cheap ring makes it worse

I couldn't risk shrinking it (which will wreck the pattern) until I was sure the weight was staying off.

yogimum · 16/11/2007 19:34

We only got married this year.

OP posts:
onlyjoking9329 · 16/11/2007 19:35

it was an accident give him a break, it is the ring that has been lost not your husband. a ring can be replaced

Marina · 16/11/2007 19:36

I think if we'd only got married this year and the ring was that valuable I'd be cross too yogimum
Are you covered under insurance yogimum? That has to be worth a claim if you are.
