For me it is the habit of drinking out of bottles. Everywhere you go people are swigging out of bottles. Had a bank appointment and even Manager was drinking out of a bottle. Agh I must be getting old. Give me a glass any time.

@warmsausagetea I thought you were being very unreasonable about delicious mini-burgers then I realised you were probably talking very reasonably about the vile plastic shoe things.

Ohh 🤣 I thought @Anordinarymum was actually saying that to me. Was thinking how strange that was when I don’t recall ever interacting with them before![/quote]
Oh no! I see it now. You might be right that they were saying it to you!

I just saw that post in isolation and not the one you'd quoted. 😂

SofiaMichelle · 17/05/2021 13:40

Have we had 'estate agent speak', yet?

"Bedroom 3 enjoys a radiator"

Yes, I bet it does.

This really made me laugh! The timing was comedy genius after you'd just challenged her. Maybe deliberate? Funny either way Grin

ChangePart1 · 17/05/2021 13:45

I know! Too funny. If it was supposed to be at me then they’ve got a bit confused so I don’t think it’s that 🤣

freakyfridays · 17/05/2021 13:48

"Please excuse the mess/dirt/socks/slippers/ lack of make-up"
when posting a photo on social media.

Such a twatty statement! If you are embarrassed, take a proper photo. If you don't care, spare us the fake apologies bringing attention to the state of your place. No one cares or notices if you have make-up or not.

Iamblossom · 17/05/2021 13:52

I don't understand, why would anyone record themselves crying? 🙄

GroovyClementine · 17/05/2021 13:53

Doggo is not a fucking word! Sounds so infantile and stupid. Melts my brain with cringe anytime I hear someone say it.

People saying pardy instead of party. Americans only just about get away with that one and when they're NOT American, but from Birmingham in England for example. Just fucking stop it, doesn't sound cool like they think it does, sounds cringe level idiotic.

The voice of that fucking Russian meerkat. It has gone on way too long now. The Go Compare twat too, urgh...shudder

People who talk to children in age inappropriate overly simple terms and simpering tones, like the child has no more intelligence than a six week old kitten. I mean, you can often literally see the kid rolling their eyes.

Hmm.

I can see why. I never have, but sometimes I’ve had the urge to.

When I lost my mum in my early twenties the grief seemed to go on forever, but at the same time I didn’t want it to end as I didn’t want my connection to her emotionally to dull. There were times when I really wanted to record the pain, to have a memory, as in a way it was part of our story still. I never did it. But I wished I had. Not to show anyone, just for me. I wanted a record of the pain, to prove to myself it was real in years to come and that it had mattered.

I think sometimes people record and share it because they don’t feel like people realise how upset they are. And they want validation. To show how bad things are, so that people will listen, maybe.

Others do it for attention, in a negative way. They enjoy the drama and it may be the only way they know how to stimulate caring in others.

I dunno. People do weird things when their emotions are running high. There’s always a reason. Whether others understand it or not.

A friend of mine on Facebook (not real life) did this as she walked towards the flowers that had been left for the victims of the Manchester arena bombing. I was gobsmacked. It isn't all about you love!
Bluedeblue · 17/05/2021 14:05

Shit number plates that try to say something but don't - DAV3 doesn't spell Dave

One of the Mums at my kids Primary school had a number plate that hinted she was a MILF. I can't recall it now, but something like

M1LF 001

Quite happily sat in the queue for drop off and pick up Shock

ProfessionalWeirdo · 17/05/2021 14:10

When someone is asked a question, and starts the answer with a totally unnecessary "So".

For example:
Q: Where are you from?
A: So, I'm from London...

FFS, WHY???

freakyfridays · 17/05/2021 14:16

Shit number plates that try to say something but don't - DAV3 doesn't spell Dave

sometimes you just inherit the number plate when you buy the car and you can't be arsed to buy another number.

oopsydaisyyy · 17/05/2021 14:17

@PinkArt

Wait, there are people who can control the volume of their sneezes?!
my reaction was very similar yours haha
MolyHolyGuacamole · 17/05/2021 14:19

@WarmSausageTea

Sliders. I can’t explain it, but they infuriate me.
Do you mean the slippers, or the little mini burgesr? 😂

Because they are so brave for sharing their journey of course (hun)! Grin

Children being taught to say ‘ta’.
Eating in the street.
Curtains closed in the daytime.
Drinking out of cans when a glass is readily available.
Loo seat covers.
Carpet in a bathroom.
Purple themed rooms.

ViciousJackdaw · 17/05/2021 14:28

Hyperbolic language, such as:
I can't get a hair appointment and I'm devastated
I absolutely idolise my grandson
I was sobbing and shaking
She started shouting at me (when it was simply a stern voice)

Also, referring to anyone over the age of 18 months as 'baby'.

Doris86 · 17/05/2021 14:30

@RoisinL

Referring to one’s DH as “hubby”. Makes me ill.
Referring to one’s husband as DH is one of me pet hates. (Along with DD, DS, etc).
Notjustanymum · 17/05/2021 14:31

Performance celebrity/royalty death mourning. I’m willing to bet that most who take/send flowers, line the route of a funeral and talk about it in every conversation for around a month after, have never met the celebrity or royalty who has died.

Ericaequites · 17/05/2021 14:31

Americans who enunciate properly don’t say pardy, gonna, dunno, or would of. Mind you, my Rural Eastern New England/private school accent is nothing like General American.

NoviceGardenLady · 17/05/2021 14:32

Uber-liberal colleagues (I'm an academic) who regularly post 'sending solidarity' messages to all and sundry. Ranges from solidarity with over-paid academics at risk of redundancy for perfectly good reasons to solidarity with the indigenous people's of some unheard-of corner of the Amazon rainforest.

I don't begrudge people feeling solidarity and empathy but it smacks of smugness, superiority and virtue signalling. What does posting 'Sending solidarity to the indigenous people of such-and-such' from your home office in Hull actually do apart from telling your few hundred like-minded wanky followers that you're a brilliant person? Twats.

luxurychocolate · 17/05/2021 14:32

@MissKeithsNeice

People who use their vocal cords when sneezing. There is no need. Bonus points for actually say achoo.

My exH uses his vocal chords when vomiting. And sneezing.

I'd say that's a small % of why he's my ex.
