For me it is the habit of drinking out of bottles. Everywhere you go people are swigging out of bottles. Had a bank appointment and even Manager was drinking out of a bottle. Agh I must be getting old. Give me a glass any time.

Slogans on t-shirts. I'm pregnant and wanted a jumper and they all had awful slogans on - 'Mama to be', 'Mummy 2021', and the worst...'Mamalicious'. Please can I just buy a normal plain jumper??

FastFood · 17/05/2021 10:33

Instagram
Selfies with inspirational quote and a thousand tags #wellbeing #strong #blablabla. Please don't do that to yourself.
Dogs or cats insta account. As soon as my friends get a pet, there's an instagram account. It's embarrassing.

ddl1 · 17/05/2021 10:37

Another thing: People standing over me and watching me when I'm doing something, especially anything that requires eye-hand co-ordination, which is not my strong point to put it mildly! I don't mind so much if children do it; but when adults do it, I find it at best very distracting and disturbing, and at worst nerve-wracking and as though they're judging and probably flunking me in a sort of exam. Thanks for offering to 'keep me company in the kitchen', but please don't!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 17/05/2021 10:38

Many of the above and a particular current one is the vaccine frame on FB.

‘Look at me, I’ve done my bit to save the world’

OMG I thought it was just me. I hate it when people do this, and always go to pieces on whatever it is I'm doing. In particular I find hosting very stressful because people always seem to want to stand and chat while I'm cooking.
rjacksmiss · 17/05/2021 10:45

The word lush, to describe things like food, wine a scent.

Die.

Bambam2019 · 17/05/2021 10:47

People who participate in MLM schemes. Particularly their social media posts.

BSJohnson · 17/05/2021 10:54

Posters who Deliberately use random capital letters. I used to Try to be Charitable, and think perhaps they were German and Capitalising Nouns, but they’re not. They’re just Twats out to wind me Up.

RantyAnty · 17/05/2021 10:55

The word intimacy

band aids on nose

checking in at hospital complete with photos in the bed, gruesome cuts with stiches.

The loud fake man sneeze. Ex's sounded like a siren.

self-proclaimed experts: a 4 hour course and a youtube channel doesn't make you an expert.

startups by guys who have never held a job.

Mediocre men who get promotions

EishetChayil · 17/05/2021 10:56

"Sustainable brands". It's the whole capitalist/branding model that CAUSES unsustainability.

ItsCokeFFS · 17/05/2021 10:57

Mildly surprised to see that there are only 2 posts saying that using the word "cringe" is awful.

Here is a third Grin

babbaloushka · 17/05/2021 10:59

Posts like this on FaceAche:

A person that loses a partner is called a widow. A child that loses a parent is called an orphan. But there is no word to describe a parent that loses a child, because that is a loss like no other. So will you put this as your status for just 1 hour. I'm pretty sure I know the ones that will. Think of someone you know or love who's lost a child & take a few minutes to remember and honour!
Thank you xx 💛 ❤💙❤💙xxxxxx

And all the other "SHARE IF YOU HATE CANCER" bollocks.

babbaloushka · 17/05/2021 11:03

Parents publicly posting about their kids when they're living together. Both the "Happy birthday funny witty talented beautiful wonderful child" and the "look at this mess teenage son has left" ones. How lonely do you have to be to beg for validation online like that, just go and actually speak to your bloody children! Makes people look incompetent.

Lolwhat · 17/05/2021 11:09

Clothes that say things like ‘I love gin’, ‘back off hun’ and ‘I wish I was sleeping’. Who is buying these? Why can’t I just buy a plain jumper anymore

SunflowersAndLavender · 17/05/2021 11:10

Don't really mind the word cringe when said on its own - I just did it upthread in fact. It just describes what I am doing/feeling, like saying 'yawn' as shorthand for 'how boring' or 'ouch' for 'that was a catty thing to say.'

What I hate is when people say 'that's so cringe.' Or 'that's so cringeing.'

It should be 'that's so cringey' or 'cringeworthy' or 'that makes me cringe.'

'That's so cringe' makes no sense. And cringeing is only a word when used to describe the subject (person who is cringeing.) A situation cannot be cringeing.

MrsMaizel · 17/05/2021 11:13

The word CURATED 😱😱😱😱

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 17/05/2021 11:22

DP bought me a sweatshirt with my year of birth on it (1975). I can't bring myself to wear it. Why would I want to advertise that?
The idea makes me cringe.

Bluesheep8 · 17/05/2021 11:26

agree. Also "tiny human" for a baby. So twee and irritating.

Little man. I hate it.

Yikes38 · 17/05/2021 11:30

People who don’t personally know them but write on famous celebrities (whether it be A list or Z list) Instagram posts like “oh no, you’ve taken your wedding ring off is everything ok babe?”

It makes me laugh and cringe 😂

CheerfulBunny · 17/05/2021 11:48

Oh and any meme or whatever that starts with the instruction : 'Read this slowly' or 'Let that sink in'.
Absolutely guaranteed to make me not read it. Piss off. Don't tell me what to do!

See also memes with howling spelling mistakes and those proporting to be quotes by Shakespeare, Audrey Hepburn or Einstein which clearly are not (pretty sure Shakespeare didn't come up with 'live, laugh, love').

AlanThePig · 17/05/2021 11:51

People who use the word 'beaut'

I'm irritated just typing it.

RoisinL · 17/05/2021 12:00

Referring to one’s DH as “hubby”. Makes me ill.

Yep (is that cringe?)

Spot on.

Bluedeblue · 17/05/2021 12:20

People standing over me and watching me when I'm doing something

My DH has form for this, complete with poised hands to take whatever I'm fiddling with off me. I tell him to go away with his Hovering Hands.

"Hovering Hands" is now a thing in our house.

I hate the "Stand up to Cancer" phrase - it's almost implying that if you don't recover, you just didn't really stand up to it enough.

Business owners posting adverts with spelling mistakes - it paints such an unprofessional image.

Elllicam · 17/05/2021 12:22

Fur babies, dog mamas, puppy mamas, bonus children (when referring to pets), stay at home dog mummy’s. It drives me nuts.
