To ask if the Bose sleepbuds are worth the money?

Saw them mentioned in another thread with regards to snoring, and am curious, does anyone have them and are they worth the ridiculous amount of money?

Interested to know this also. I have an app that’s meant to track my sleep but instead it ends up registering DH thunderous snoring. I’m so fed up by knowing that I’ll not get a decent sleep because of him, and when I say to him, he says I’m exaggerating.

jellyfrizz · 15/05/2021 18:59

I’ve got some - they make my ears itchy.

jellyfrizz · 15/05/2021 19:00

To the point it wakes me up. So no, I don’t think they are worth the cost.

EarlLeighIndamornin · 15/05/2021 19:05

No. They hurt my ears and none of the sounds are that great - I wake up feeling like I’ve been listening to tv static all night.

I really feel you. He even says "so tired after you poking me and telling me to turn over all night". Oh it pains me. Was hopeful that if you spend like £200 on ear buds/plugs it can't be worse 😂.

I have them and they are the only thing that has ever worked. The sounds are lovely and drown out everything.

I only use them on holiday or when we go away though as I generally do not like sleeping with things in my ears and wouldn’t want to permanently. So at home, separate rooms works best for us, but these are great fr holidays.

MIC2689 · 15/05/2021 19:38

@Aprilx I'm confused as I understand they're not in any way noise cancelling but more noise masking. Do you not hear his snoring through them then?

I struggle with every noise at night as I have ptsd and have found the silicone ball ear plugs are by far the best for me. At £3 a box they are waaaay cheaper than buds too. They do several types, I like the ones covered in corona as they are less itchy/sweaty.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 15/05/2021 20:02

I use a sleeping mask with built in headphones. I think it cost about £20 from Amazon and is really comfortable.

MyDcAreMarvel · 15/05/2021 20:05

@TwoZeroTwoZero do you have a link to the specific one please. I have looked and can’t always trust the reviews.

Same! Anything to help with sleeping next to my snoring OH! (No spare room and I hate sleeping on the sofa).

I have Bose sleep buds. They have transformed my life, the many sounds are so soothing. My favourites are ‘starboard’ to create the sound I’m on the sea and ‘rustle’ which is like I’m sitting at a campfire.

They don’t fully omit outside noises like snoring but it allows you to go into a different zone to be able to sleep.

Only thing is each night I have to apply a little bit of microporous tape just inside my ear as I’m allergic to metal and there is a tiny magnet which links to the base to charge when not in use.

Small price to pay for a decent night of blissful sleep 😴

MIC2689 · 15/05/2021 20:18

Oh I'm so intrigued by this @CathyTurnbull. The whole not cutting out noises but still allowed you to sleep! I just want sleep haha.

these and I would get some with the buttons on the front because you accidentally press them if they're on the side! The headphones rest over the top of your ear rather than inside it and you can move them about to the right place when you adjust the band to fit your head. The battery lasts 10+ hours so easily long enough for a full night's sleep. I can still hear things with them on but because I'm listening to the sounds playing through it (a thunderstorm is my favourite!) I don't focus on it like I used to.

AndAllOurYesterdays · 15/05/2021 20:24

Another one with a snoring husband and wondering about this. I think it would drive me mad if I'd paid £200 and could still hear the snores!

Franklin12 · 15/05/2021 20:40

I believe QVS have them on offer which means you cam return them if they don’t work. You do have to pay for the return postage though.

I am going to throughly test them next week when we are staying in a hotel. It beats sleeping pills which I had to take when we shared a room on holiday and they weren’t brilliant. You wake up foggy..

Coolbeans40 · 15/05/2021 20:40

I have had Bose sleep buds for 2 months now and find they really help. They do mask noise well and help me to sleep more deeply. I set mine for 90 minutes and fall asleep quickly even when DH is snoring

MyDcAreMarvel · 16/05/2021 13:30

Thanks @TwoZeroTwoZero

HowManyToes · 16/05/2021 13:32

I got custom made sleeping ear plugs from Specsavers. They took moulds of my ears and I can hardly feel them when they’re in. I think they were about £120. Best purchase ever!

rainyskylight · 16/05/2021 13:35

For less money you can have custom sleep earplugs made for your ears at Boots. They make a mould of your ear and so are completely comfortable. In the mean time, try silicone at plugs - you’ll need to pin back your hair as they can be quite sticky but honestly you could sleep through anything with these. They also need replacing fairly frequently for hygiene reasons. But they are amazing and very comfortable. www.boots.com/boots-pharmaceuticals-soft-silicone-earplugs-pink-3-pairs-10112955

tinkerbellvspredator · 16/05/2021 13:39

If they are just for white noise why not try playing white noise loudly on speakers. We used to have it on to help DD sleep as a baby in our room and found it very relaxing. I think it was called baby's sleep shore and was a combo of heartbeat and waves sounds. Our Alexa has lots of options.

AlCalavicci · 16/05/2021 13:44

I have had them for well over a year and still like them .
They are not noise cancelling so I am not sure they would suite your needs but they help me block out my noisy neighbours because I have something else to listen to , usually radio four extra dramas .
I use them every night and they only need charging once a week.
