I opened a packet of savoury snacks last night and halfway through I found a finger stall/detached glove finger of blue latex. I know that somebody would have been wearing this to cover a cut or sore, and it make me physically sick thinking how it could have contaminated the contents. I messaged the company, sent them photos, and batch numbers etc and they said oh thanks for letting them know, they will investigate, and could they have my address to send me something to thank me for alerting them to this.
No, I'm not after free products, as I have been truly put off eating them again. I am just astounded that a leading brand does not have quality control checks to avoid this kind of thing happening. It is not a small object, about an inch long, enough to cover a finger to the knuckle. I thought that products were continually photographed on the production line (I love the food factory TV series!) I'm horrified that this got through. You are talking about a well known brand, with large production lines. God knows what else could get in the packets.
They haven't asked for the pack/contents, and I trust that they will investigate the matter. Should I also contact the trading standards/food safety office as well? And would this need to be the offices nearest to the factory, or would my local Council handle it as the product was purchased in the local supermarket? I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. Should I report it in addition to contacting the company?
