I bought a Philips Lumea during lockdown and have had some success with it... but my legs are definitely not hair-free yet. I’ve done six treatments now, with a fortnight between each one. Hair is definitely reduced- I feel I’m winning the battle but I don’t know whether it’s safe to keep going at two week intervals?? The instructions don’t really say, as they sort of imply it’ll have totally worked by then so you’ll just need top-ups every now and then...

Does anyone know?

I have the Braun version which is similar and I assume works in a similar way.
The instructions specifically say that if you’re not hair free after the initial weekly number of sessions is up then to continue weekly until you are so I don’t think there’s any harm in it

Thanks Smile I did suspect this but it’s nice to get some reassurance!

Keep at it! I have a Lumea and I think it's brilliant. The hair does grow back but so much more slowly and it doesn't grow back fully. I could shave 'a few times a year' now instead of 'any time I want to wear a skirt' Grin

I’m happy with that as an ultimate outcome tbh - up until now, shaving has been a real chore!

I ended up using it daily on high (for face) with no issue

Yes, keep going! I did it weekly with the lumea at the start around this time last year and then only had to shave a couple of times between July- September to catch stray hairs.
It's been fab. I didn't bother using it much over winter but hair growth has still only been a fraction of normal and now after three fortnightly sessions recently have found that growth has almost stopped again. It's fab!

I got one for Christmas, desperately wanted on. Read instructions and it said if you are immune compromised can’t use it!
I take meds for a condition that affects my immune system.
Would you dare use it? I really want to!

TheChineseChicken · 15/05/2021 16:48

Does it work on blonde hair / fair skin?

It would be helpful for the instructions to give some explanation why you can’t use it if you are immune-compromised? Sorry - I’ve no idea about that. I also didn’t understand why it said men can’t use it anywhere on their face or neck?? Not that I know any men who want to... but it doesn’t seem to make sense.

I know!! I rang them up, the lady I spoke to said I could have a refund if I wanted. She also said that they have to cover their backs....
I did try it on each level going up my leg and it was fine, not sure if I should do all my legs though, terrified of burns!
