To ask for help understanding backpack with charging ports

I think I'm being really thick but I have one of these and I cannot work it out. Obviously I know you attach a power bank etc I guess what I'm confused about is how is it different to just attaching your phone to your power bank and putting it in a normal bag? I'm not tech savvy at all so I may have missed the point/be overthinking how 'smart' it is. Is it just so you can charge the phone in the bag whilst also carrying the phone? But my cable isnt long enough so maybe it isnt that? Can anyone help explain it, I feel 100 years old

Mine (which I've never used) has a connector on the inside and outside of the rucksack. So you can have the power pack inside (and I guess you can padlock your rucksack). Then you connect your device to the socket on the outside of the bag which is in a better location / tidier than just running a cable out somewhere random.

Thank you , I guess that must be it but you know when you just cant fathom something? I hate technology and all the cables which all look the same so I think I just blank it all out as boring or too hard to understand! I need to get better at it

@QueenBodicea
Hmmm I'm not sure. I've tried googling it and it's all a bit vague so maybe it's one of those things I'm imagining is more sophisticated than it actually is

@bungaloid has it. Your power bank is locked safely in your bag and the cable comes out and you can attach your phone. I guess it's something very useful travelling in dodgy areas. The power bank is secured away and all you need to do is keep a firm hold of your phone.
We bought a lockable bag like this for a trip to Barcelona and I'm so glad we did! It was like walking through Fagin's boys from Oliver! There were constantly groups of men wandering around blatantly checking people's bags out and it usually ended up with me peeking over DH's shoulder to the approaching pickpockets saying, "Off ya fuck, mate!" as I'd catch them, hands almost on the rucksack.
Shame my dad didn't listen to my constant pickpocket warnings and called me paranoid. "I've been travelling for years!" He says, "I know what I'm doing!". Yep, saying that whilst his wallet stuck out of his baggy shorts pocket. The silly sod had put all his cash in there after checking out, including a few hundred quid to pay the dog kennels when we got home. Yeah,his wallet was gone before we even got to the airport. 🤷🏻♀️
