To want to live in Jilly Cooper land?

I know there are a fair few Jilly lovers on Mumsnet and (excluding the misogyny and sexism etc of the time) would anyone like to indulge in a little Jilly-esque reminiscence? My local park reeks of wild garlic and I'm rereading Polo for the millionth time whilst contemplating buying a horse I can't afford so please, Jilly lovers, join me in remembering and discussing her best and worst bits to distract me from buying horses I can't afford ?

I’m listening to the audiobooks at the moment.

I am not enjoying them as much as I did years and years ago. A lot of the content just makes me cringe now. I can’t help thinking that it’s reading authors like Jilly Cooper in my teens that exacerbated my hang ups about my weight and food. Everyone over a size 10 is plump, fat or has huge thighs and fuck, the thing with young girls and older men is so inappropriate. Can’t believe I didn’t see how revolting it was years ago.

And the rape of Helen, that was shocking and I am not even sure I really registered it for what it was years ago.

Can’t believe this seemed fine back in the day, it really makes me cringe now. And women are either exquisitely beautiful or really ugly, no one is just average looking.
