To ask for help naming my son

LAgeDeRaisin · 10/05/2021 21:12

It's seemingly impossible. Posting for traffic.

The names I like, Henry, Alfred, Arthur, Frederick/Fred/Freddie are all extremely common around where we are and I don't want him to be one of 11 children in the class called Henry. I love the name Rupert but DH really doesn't so that's out.

For girls we loved Daphne, Florence, Matilda, Rose, Henrietta. There were lots more. I don't know why we are struggling so much with a name for a boy! We have a girl and are delighted to have a boy too.

Suggestions please!!

I have an Alfred (Freddie) and an Albert (Bertie). They are the only ones in their respective classes. I've been teaching over 16 years and have only ever met a handful of Freddies.

'Popular' names are less popular than you think.

Going by your original list, how about Edmund, Ivo or Orlando.

OwlinaTree · 10/05/2021 22:57

helpfulbelle oooh there's loads of Freddies at my school - at least one a class I would say! How strange!

We each ended up making a list of names. We then swapped and crossed out any we really couldn't stomach and then went from there.

Daniels were ten a penny in kids school. One in every class and three in one class. Seemed to peak a few years ago though .
