The pet name he had for his ex partner .. a relationship of years that ended two years ago?
He was pissed.
I slip up verbally too sometimeConfused
I ignored it at that time. Should I address it or am I being unreasonable ?

@gemmasgymbag

No...

Then why make an issue of something you also admit to having done?

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 10/05/2021 14:34

@gemmasgymbag

Along the lines of ' Minnie' from Mickey Mouse etc
Frankly I wouldn't want to be infantalized in that sense by any partner. It would give me the ick faster than you can say 'Wendy Darling'. Ugh!

It happens. My second husband called me by his first wife's name quite a few times, usually when he was tired or drunk or occasionally when he was laughing at something and trying to explain it to me. It definitely wasn't a longing for his ex.

He was most apologetic each time.

I reckon when you've used a name as frequently in your life as he had it stays with you. We all follow patterns of speech when we're talking and occasionally I think he slid into an "old setting" for want of a better description, possibly because he'd had similar conversations with her over the years.

If he'd used it mid shag I would have had something to say but in the course of everyday conversation it never felt like a big deal.

Well I wouldn't like to be called Bluto or Goofy regardless..

I'd let it go. The brain and mouth do strange things sometimes. I've been married for 35 years and recently called DH the name of an ex from over 40 years ago. No particular reason that I can think of. It just slipped out. My very nice MIL occasionally calls me by DH's ex' name too. Mind you she quite often refers to DH by her sisters name.
