Exactly as in my title

Yabu - leaf blower is a totally appropriate name

Yanbu- the term 'leaf sucker' would make much more sense

Anyone else think if any more that make zero sense!?

But they don’t suck leaves, they blow them...

dun1urkin · 07/05/2021 14:21

Hmmmmm my leaf blower is also a leaf sucker at the flick of a switch (misses the point of the thread...)

Thesearmsofmine · 07/05/2021 14:21

Blow job Shock unless I’ve been doing it wrong!

BobLemon · 07/05/2021 14:21

What?

I’ve never seen a sucker... you mean like a vacuum cleaner for the outdoors?

Hilda40 · 07/05/2021 14:21

It's a blower. Fucking pointless things.

dun1urkin · 07/05/2021 14:22

@BobLemon yep. An outdoors vac.

BobLemon · 07/05/2021 14:22

I’m being educated on garden appliances!!

And @Thesearmsofmine 🤣🤣🤣🤣

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 07/05/2021 14:22

But leaf blowers blow leaves...

flashylamp · 07/05/2021 14:23

A leaf blower is a leaf blower though Confused

santabetterwashhishands · 07/05/2021 14:25

A trampoline should be a jumpoline 🤷‍♀️

TheQueef · 07/05/2021 14:26

Mine blows, sucks, chews em up and compacts them.
Allegedly, I can't remember the last time it was used.

backinthebox · 07/05/2021 14:26

Leaf blowers blow leaves into piles so you can pick them up with a fork. Some leaf blowers can be made to vacuum up leaves too. But mostly leaf blowers blow, so it is correctly named.

HavelockVetinari · 07/05/2021 14:30

How odd - the only ones I've ever seen have blown the leaves (you direct them into a pile and sweep them up).

Billandben444 · 07/05/2021 14:36

Blow job shock unless I’ve been doing it wrong!

Think you need to start a new thread for this Grin

CallMeCleo · 07/05/2021 14:38

I've had a series of leaf blowers and they all vacuumed. I've never used the blow function on any of them.

Cupboard is neither a cup nor a board. I guess historically it began life as a board holding cups.

NotJustAnyOldDog · 07/05/2021 14:38

A leaf blower blows leaves.
A leave vacuum hoovers them up.

Granted there are some that do both but a leaf blower blows the leaves.

SprayedWithDettol · 07/05/2021 14:42

Trampoline comes from the Spanish word trampolin (diving board). Nb don’t use a trampoline for diving.

Ylfa · 07/05/2021 14:43

Near miss. I’ve never understood this as it usually means you nearly hit something?

KrisAkabusi · 07/05/2021 14:44

Another here that's never seen a leaf blower that sucks. You could have used a better example, OP!

CareBear50 · 07/05/2021 14:48

@Thesearmsofmine

Blow job Shock unless I’ve been doing it wrong!
The term actually comes from victorian times and was known as a "below job " . True lol
OP posts:
moynomore · 07/05/2021 14:49

Leaf blowers blow though.

CareBear50 · 07/05/2021 14:51

The only leaf blower I'm familiar with is my one.....and it sucks......so thanks for the insight everyone!

It's one theory but not necessarily true, he etymology is unclear. There are references from the 17th century that indicated 'to blow' meant bringing someone to orgasm for example.

Twickerhun · 07/05/2021 15:05

Working from home is totally miss named for me. I now sleep at work.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 07/05/2021 15:07

@TheQueef

Mine blows, sucks, chews em up and compacts them. Allegedly, I can't remember the last time it was used.
Are we talking leaf blower or blow job, now, Queef?
