Pervy vicar watching the girls changing in the changing room (see picture) this book is from 1994 surely they should of added new books instead of these outdated offerings.

Obviously I’m not going to say anything to school but it’s a bit weird...

I would say something.
But I did enquire with the school whether a story about arranged marriage in mice was appropriate in Yr1. (Teacher laughed and actually agreed it wasn't the best story?)

Do you think they haven't thought of this?

Go on, say something to the school.

Where's the money coming from?

The reading books are so fucking boring anyway. They sadly don’t have money to replace books though, my DC’s school asked parents to buy from their Amazon wish list of books a couple of months ago...

How much are you going to donate to them for the new books?

I think he's looking at the PE teacher's butt!

I'd wager there isn't a school in the whole of the UK who wouldn't bite your arm off it you offered to buy them new books.

Why not put your hand in your pockets and help them replace their stock of almost 30 year old books instead of moaning about it?

I would agree that that book isn’t great but there just isn’t the money in a lot of schools to buy new books. My school used multiple fundraisers to save up for new books a couple of years ago.

I think the Vicar is actually trans so is allowed in the girls changing room now 😜
Seriously though, why not volunteer to help the school edit their reading books? And then help fund raise for new ones. My school have edited all our reading books over lockdown and spend over £5K on new books. We lose on average 2 books a week - I say lose, I mean they don’t get returned - and it’s nigh on impossible to keep on top of it.

I would actually say something about that particular book 😂. If nothing else it will give the teacher a giggle in private. However, I wouldn't complain about the books generally - if they could afford new books, they would have them.

I raised in early Year 3 when the books my eldest was getting were unrelenting misery. Kid with cancer who’s had to go abroad for treatment leaving his mum behind, girl in post-climate-apocalypse dystopia, family fleeing the Vietnam war and half the people on the boat died on the journey… It was turning him off reading. It turned out they were short on books for the more advanced readers so had been dipping into the higher years/reserve stock without checking what the books were actually about. They were a bit mortified when they realised and were able to make changes.
