AIBU to go to the cinema?

If you've had both jabs, will you be happy going to the cinema when they open on May 17th?

I will, but saw a poll which was largely of the opinion to wait a bit. I've erred on the side of caution all the way through, been shielding etc. but once I'm vaxxed to the max, I'm outta here!

I wouldn't, no.

Not because I think it's in any way risky, but because there's no way I'm sitting or a couple of hours with a mask on. Would completely detract from any pleasure of watching the movie.

YANBU! I think cinema will need our support if it is going to survive. I too have had both jabs and will probably go

PrivateHall · 06/05/2021 07:37

If I enjoyed watching TV/movies then yes I would happily go! It just isn't my thing, I only go when the kids talk me into taking them.

changeruset2748 · 06/05/2021 07:39

Why on earth wouldn't you? At this point what do people have to be worried about?! I just bloody hope they start actually releasing new films.

6Helen7 · 06/05/2021 07:39

I've had one jab and would go.

The risk of coronavirus is incredibly low at the moment. I'm in London and in my borough it's less than 13 cases per 100,000. If you're not prepared to get on with living now, when will you be?

shouldistop · 06/05/2021 07:41

I haven't had any jabs and I'll be doing anything I can

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/05/2021 07:50

I think we'll go to our local one as its always clean. Some of the big chains always seem grubby so I may leave those a bit longer.

Jesusmaryjosephandthecamel · 06/05/2021 07:53

I’ll definitely be going. It’s the one social thing we’ve missed the most.

Shergill15 · 06/05/2021 08:14

I've not been vaccinated yet although hoping to be called soon. I'm thinking of taking DD when they reopen, if distancing etc is all in operation it doesn't seem much riskier than me being at work and DD being in school all week

EvilOnion · 06/05/2021 08:18

I went to the cinema in October when things opened up.

As long as you stick to social distancing, wearing a mask and wash your hands when needed I don't see why you'd be at any more risk than anywhere else.

Ours had every second row cordened off, you had to book specific seats so that they could seperate different groups with a few seats blocked and it was one way rather than squeezing past people to get in out of the aisle.

All felt very safe :)

Womencanlift · 06/05/2021 08:21

I will absolutely go. Went last year when they were open and you forget you have a mask on.

Life needs to start again and this is one more step towards normality.

I sat inside a restaurant last weekend and it felt amazing after I had been shopping. Doing all these ‘normal’ activities is what life is all about

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 06/05/2021 08:30

Me and DD went during the brief opening last year. We were the only ones there, it was brilliant. I can't wait to go back
