To ask how to lose weight?

Not so much how to lose it - I know healthy eating, lower carbs, being more active and a bit of intermittent fasting will work for me.. but I seem to have zero willpower and can’t stick to it! Sad

AIBU to ask for tips on how to stick to a healthy lifestyle? I’m right on the boarder of obesity at the moment, my BMI is 29.8. I feel horrible and sluggish. I need to lose around 2.5 stone to bring me back to a healthy weight. I’m quite worried about the impact my current size is having on my physical and mental health Sad

Have a look in a weoghloss section. Lots of great support threats, some accountability, tips etc

I took up long distance walking. It's free and really enjoyable. Find a local path... Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, Pennine Way, Highland Way, Cotswold Way, South West Coast Path... Pack a healthy picnic. Lose weight the fun way.

Cycling is also good.

Build up from changes you can manage. So start with healthier meal substitutions, then reduce portion sizes, then cutting out biscuits etc but don't go cold turkey on it all at once

Ive got same as you to lose, and a time limit imposed by my GP due to diabetes.. and its bloody HARD ..Its a huge undertaking but i really think it can be done. Start by lowering carbs easy ones (bread, rice, pasta, grains) next week stick in veggies you really like, up the protein.. eggs/chicken/Turkey/lamb/beef/fish.. and be prepared to eat the same meals over and over. Tim Ferris the 4hr body is a good guide. You will stop feeling hungry after 10 days, ive lost 10llbs in 3 weeks. Still have a way to go but low carb (keto is insanely difficult, especially if you have a family/work) ive found being organized is really important, that way you have less opportunity to make bad food choices. Happy to share my amazing chicken wings recipe (message me) living off these as snacks, and a really important one.. make some bone broth, its filling, flavorful and anti inflammatory. I have every eve. Which brings me to the next point.. intermittent fasting. Make your last meal 7/8pm dont eat agin till 10/11am. Ive got a way to go but a good incentive, good luck!!

Start by learning the difference between "genuinely hungry need to eat" hunger and "a bit peckish, fancy a snack" hunger. Eating when you just have the latter is part of first-world-problem "affluenza" - imagine instead you had a subsistence-level existence and that the first suggestions of peckishness couldn't be satisfied with opening the larder but instead were a motivator to get you up and starting to search/scavenge for or work towards your next meal. So, when you might otherwise reach for a snack, instead go out for a brisk walk outdoors, far away from the larder door.

I agree with tiredgirl that reducing carbs is a relatively easy step and increasing vegetables fills you up. I also cut snacks in the evening - I'm not actually hungry, more 'nibbly-hungry', so I eat nibble 3 brazil nuts slowly!

However, I disagree with 'being prepared to eat the same meals over and over' but I guess it depends on what you currently eat. My main issue has always been portion size; what I eat has always been pretty balanced. We borrowed some 'Hello Fresh' recipe cards and that's given us lots of new ideas to try/adapt as we were in a bit of a rut.

I've lost over 3 stone since last August - no idea why it's worked this time when I've struggled in the past. I don't eat breakfast either.
