which I wasnt asked about and have just been told as an aside I am going to be part of esp as it's £70 per person.

thats more than I'm spending on the kids!!

Now that I come to think of it we did do this 2 years ago (last time I was home) but I hadn't factored it in this year and was planning on giving token presents to everyone.

I could find the money by taking it out of the money we planned for tiling the kitchen (after waiting 4 years) but there is nothign I want worth £70 that I could bring back on the plane. I want tiles for my kitchen.

Am I being unreasonable and an anfestive TAG?

agree with cod (I think I get what she means )

uberalice · 14/11/2007 14:09

YANBU. Tell them you're sorry but you've already sorted presents out and therefore can't afford to do it this year, but that you wouldn't feel at all offended if they went ahead and did it without you.

HairyIrene · 14/11/2007 14:18

what is it?

MrsBadger · 14/11/2007 14:28

is it like a Secret Santa where everyone pulls a name from a hat to buy a present for?

MrsBadger · 14/11/2007 14:30

(and isn't it Christkindl?)

tarantula · 14/11/2007 15:56

Sorry been away at a meeting. Kris kindle is Secret Santa (they call it KK in Ireland didnt realise it wasnt used in Britian) so each person buys one present and gets one present. We have a large family so it is sensible in a way but I just think £70 is too much.

codslovechild · 14/11/2007 16:04

no

VanillaPumpkin · 14/11/2007 16:07

I would love that! I have a huge family so that would save me a fortune. But I agree, say you have already bought gifts and to carry on without you.

VanillaPumpkin · 14/11/2007 16:08

Tommy - I think it is the only present you buy though so good value IMO.....

GrapefruitMoon · 14/11/2007 16:14

I wish my family would do this but agree £70 is a bit steep... though tbh I probably spend more than that on all of them together....

Can you get something that looks like it cost £70 but didn't?

lazygirl · 14/11/2007 16:25

My lot did this last year (called it secret snowflake though ) it was a big relief for everyone since we're all a bit poor. BUT we had a limit of twenty quid!
Oh and of course the kids all were given gifts as usual....
