wrapping sanpro up

I work, with one other woman in a building with dozens of men. I do know the cleaning crew though are all female as I see them occasionally at the end of the day. So it may be them...

Because of the lack of females I guess, we are expected to just put used tampons and towels in the bin in the cubicle, which I don't find problematic.
I was binning my tampon the other day and saw lots of used towels in the bin, unwrapped in toilet paper or anything, just lying there. There can only be one other person doing it and it irritates me as I find it disrespectful to the cleaners. It isn't hard to just fold your towel and wrap it surely?

YANBU to be irritated by female colleague who doesn't care less.
YABU who cares? It's just blood (which I also do get, it is just blood, so maybe I am being U).

Is it a lined bin?

GoddessKali · 02/05/2021 11:57

Laminate a notice asking for stuff to be wrapped up

Onesnowynight · 02/05/2021 12:12

It’s bodily fluids. That’s so gross

That's a bit grim then. Should be rolled and wrapped in toilet paper at the very least.

buttcrackmcheese · 02/05/2021 12:27

Gross. I thought the proper bins were a legal requirement?

toffeebonbon · 02/05/2021 12:27

Should it not be in a proper sanpro bin and removed and replaced by an outside company? That's what happened when I worked in a nursery no way would the cleaners be expected to empty them, I thought that was the law!

Totally disgusting yanbu!

The bigger problem is that you can see all the used Sandro because your work hasn’t provided a proper hygienic bin with a lid. Nor have they even bothered to line the bin they have provided.

It’s not nice for the cleaners, but they are being disrespected by the management far more than they are being disrespected by women who also aren’t being properly catered for.

Elieza · 02/05/2021 12:39

I’d expect that it is unlawful to not provide sanitary bins.

Whether an ordinary bin emptied by a regular cleaner can be classed as adequate provision I don’t know. I can’t imagine that it would be ok with H&S though?

You used to get paper disposal bags to put used products in. I don’t know if they still make them but that could be an interim solution while you investigate the legalities if what they are currently doing.

Needs to be wrapped up small if you don't have a proper bin as it just goes to landfil.

And also ew
