Hello,

I need opinions as I think I might be jumping the gun, I applied for a job I really really want and they sent an email after I applied to say due to the number of jobs they are applying for they will continue me after the closing date (which is today) as the position is an apprenticeship I have already emailed them asking if after the apprenticeship if the job is permanent and they confirmed it was ( I just wanted to double check as I didn't want to leave a permanent job for a temporary one if that makes sense), I'm thinking of emailing them today asking when they will contact potential applicants as I am very interested and if there's anything extra I need to do such as reading material as it's apprenticeship but I also think this might come off as quite annoying - what do you guys think? I don't want to jeopardise any chance I have (if I have any at all) but I kinda want to do something so they'll remember my name, it's a very niché job so I don't think they'll be many applicants plus they did advertise the job 30 days ago and again a week ago so not sure if they got any interest the first time, what would you do?

Please dont. They've already informed you that they will contact you after the closing date, which is today. Please give them a chance.

Most adverts then go through sifting - a person will sift through all applications and look for those which meet the essential criteria. Our place pre scores the applications and then invites a shortlist to interview.

Sifting can take a full day in itself depending on how many applications they get.

Also - full stops. Just a few, chucked in at intervals. I felt like I read the whole post in one breath.

Use some full stops. That will help your career no end!

I don't tend to write applications on my phone one handed, I do apologise for the lack of full stops. It was just written very quickly.

Yes I think that would come across as annoying. I’d leave it for now.

Than you for the advice, I'll leave them to it and hopefully I hear back. Sorry for lack of punctuation and grammar.

Leave it! Shortlisting can take ages!!
They might not have even started looking at applications yet. it's a waiting game I'm afraid.

You're right. I've just been in the same job for three years and got a bit too excited and ahead of myself. I'll wait, the worst that can happen is they don't contact me.
