To think DS has probably stopped growing?

My DS has just turned 17. He's 5'10" and has size 10 feet. He was small for a long time but had massive growth spurt around 15/16. He hasn't grown now for at least 6-8 months (height or feet)
I need to buy him a new suit for sixth form, interviews etc. Do you think he's probably stopped growing now? When do boys stop growing? His DF is just over 6' and I'm 5'6".

Boys tend to have one more growth spurt then girls, so I'd say he's due one more aged about 18 or 19.

Oh I’d say he’ll go again for the next couple of years. Sorry OP!!

Yep most lads I know had another growth spurt of a couple inches at around 18-21. They never seem to be as massive as the ones they get mid teens though. I think most girls stop growing in height by about 16-18.

Asda suits are surprisingly good. Definitely worth a look for someone who is still growing

Boys can often have a late growth spurt.

I was about 5’9” in year 11, I’m now just shy of 6’1”, I know from rugby that I stopped growing when I was 20.

Can you get him trousers in a longer length and take the hem up without cutting it off? At least that way if he does grow only the blazer needs to be replaced.

@AuntieStella great idea, thanks.

Think anything more expensive will have to wait!

For cheap but fashionable suits you really want to have a look at tk max booth online and in person. I got both my sons prom suits and first few suits from there. 3 piece for between £45-60 and they have lots of shirts too.

Just an example, I'm sure they will likely be different as stock coaches all the time

Boys stop growing way after girls, into their twenties often.

Agree that boys have late growth spurts.
My brother was 5ft 8 at fifteen. He was 6ft at 19

Really? Eek! My 13 year old is 5'10 and size 11 feet already! (His dad and brother are 6'3 and 6'4 though)

Is it worth hiring a suit? We do this for weddings as no way would they ever wear one more than once or twice while still growing

My friends son grew again at 21!

It varies, for boys 18/19 it's still common to grow, for girls 15/16 though my dd was still growing until 18

Discovered recently that if you still have the book where his development stages, and vaccinations were recorded, the centile graph at the back that plots height and weight goes up to age 20. So you can log where he is now and see what his predicted height will be at various stages until he's 20! Grin

I remember our tutor at university warning the boys that they could expect another growth spurt before graduation, so to make sure that suits bought for matriculation were roomy enough to wear for Finals...
