This.

My daughters school have not yet shared any plans for their year 6 leavers in terms of activities. They usually would go to PGL, leavers disco and a church service.

My friends with children in others school all seem to have the plans.

Has your child's school shared their plans and if so what are they doing?

No plans shared yet.

There is a lot of planning going on in the background, but of course no one knows if the plans will materialise.

They don’t want to raise hopes and then dash them as the kids have been through so much up and down this past year, hence not sharing yet.

My daughter is Yr 2 and a Leaver. They haven't released plans yet as they don't know yet! There are several options depending on what happens on May 17th, then June 21st. It really doesn't matter yet so just wait. This way they won't have to cancel anything.

No plans shared yet for DD school. It’s very hard in school at the moment. The planning and risk assessment for anything to happen is huge.

Nothing here, we have been told none of it will be possible this year. Parents have organised a trip to the beach after school on their last day and ordered leavers’ hoodies.

LettyLoman · 29/04/2021 09:14

No plans. No plans last year either. We did hoodies but that's it. It's down to the yr6 kids parents anyway isn't it? They organise the balls and picnics not the teachers. Assemblies are all remote over team meetings.

Porcupineintherough · 29/04/2021 09:14

Really? You think they should share plans now rather than wait and see what may be possible as society opens up?

That’s a shame if they don’t get to do anything. Even last year our year six got to do their leaver’s play and prerecorded it. Instead of the disco etc they got an outdoor activity company to come in after school and run activities within their bubbles. They actually enjoyed it more than a disco. They did things like climbing, archery etc.

Yes, I do think that plans should be made so if it is possible it can happen. If no plans are made then very little can happen as it is difficult to organise anything for 60 children last minute.

That's really good they facilitated something last year.

My school have made plans. DD is booked onto a 3 night school trip to Cornwall, there's a leavers disco, a yearbook and hoodies have been ordered.

There's also a fun activity week at school.

It gives them something to look forward to, the only thing that potentially may get cancelled is the school trip but in all likelihood it's looking promising.

Fantastic. This is what I would like to see from my DD school.

Our school are making tentative plans - mainly a residential & PTA will buy leavers hoodies. However, the school have plans - not officially announced - for the 4 weeks after 21st June. Basically if the roadmap goes to plan the final 4 weeks of term will be filled with fun activities (sports day, whole school play, trips out, etc) for the whole school (tiny village primary, sub 50 children).
I only know about it because I'm the PTA Chair - but the school don't want to get the kids hopes up by announcing it all in case it doesn't go ahead.

Tragicroundabout · 29/04/2021 09:55

We've been told that the residential trip is cancelled but that the school hope to organize some day trips and activities. Last year's P7s got a picnic in the park and games etc. To be honest I don't expect any firm plans until there is a bit more certainty but it is a small rural school with only five leavers so maybe easier to arrange things at shorter notice.
