To ask you to tell me what I want for my birthday??

cricketmum84 · 28/04/2021 11:42

Literally not a clue and people keep asking me what I want!

Budget for each person would be £20 max. I can't eat chocolate or treats as I'm diabetic. Don't really drink. Working from home and not really going out so don't need jewellery/handbag etc etc. I already have a heated fleece throw, nice new travel mug, soft bed socks, more perfume than I know what to do with.

Sick of having to say "I really don't know!"

Please spam me with your favourite things that you would like to receive?

My 'wish list' normally includes hiking socks, warm hats, torches, or penknives, so I might not be the best one to ask 😂

Rainbowqueeen · 28/04/2021 11:49

Gloves,scarf and hat?

Nice hand cream

Books

Air pods (yes more pricy but are some people likely to club together)

Exercise gear eg yoga mat

Savoury food treats eg dukkah, quince paste, expensive oils.

Do you like board games or jigsaw puzzles?

Posh tea or coffee

swimlittlefishy · 28/04/2021 11:51

I don't really like getting stuff. I like a nice bottle of wine or spirits, a voucher for a meal or an experience, like a massage or whatever. Something to enjoy/do, rather than something to just get.

Speakuptomakeyourselfheard · 28/04/2021 11:51

Do you have any hobbies? If not, why not search the internet for ideas, and then ask for some items to start you off. For example, if you like the idea of trying fancy handwriting, ask for a calligraphy set. If you'd like to try watercolour painting, ask for a set of paints, suitable paper, a book on the subject. If you like gardening, ask for a plant, some pots, a bag of compost, seeds, etc. Or how about a magazine subscription? Just some ideas to get you started.

cricketmum84 · 28/04/2021 11:58

Ooh I like the idea of savoury cooking ingredients :)

I work long hours so not much time for hobbies except reading but book tokens would go down well I think.

I'm also in a wheelchair and overrun by exercise equipment to try get my legs working again.

Lol @Meredith4 I can guarantee none of those things will make it to my list 😂

Well I would like:
Books ( interior design, a selection of classic fiction... I would like old copies with cool covers but that’s just me)
Records ( aka vinyl) new or vintage
A nice candle or diffuser oils
Skincare items ( specific things not open house)
Posh soap ( from Liberty or TK Maxx sell some of the same brands)
A pedicure
Eyebrow threading
A posh mug ( mine just cracked)
A nice houseplant with pot
New mascara.
Magazine subscription or other subscription... you can get them for socks, stationery, art supplies.. all sorts
Tickets.... for anything

turkeyboots · 28/04/2021 12:05

My birthday is next week. I want a wool pillow and a new lawnmower. And champagne truffles.

cricketmum84 · 28/04/2021 12:05

Hi cricket! Are you a fellow Taurean? I'm 50 in a few weeks time, here what's on my list:

My favourite clarins beauty balm.

Stationery - bright folders to keep all my medical paperwork in. Makes me feel better about it all!

A Victorian nightdress. (bit specific)

Someone's time to help with the garden.

Money towards a Rainbow Zebra tattoo.

A really nice takeaway I wouldn't usually treat myself to.

Chestnut sheepskin slippers.

Cross stitch kit.

Some essential oils.

Amazon voucher from anyone I know doesn't have time to go buy me anything, therefore I can buy some practical stuff for myself like a new knee brace or compression gloves.

Donation to my favoured charity (EDS)

There's other more random stuff, but I'll stop there.

nickelbabe · 28/04/2021 12:29

Dvds.
new films.
I ddon't know why you think you don't need socks, though. You can never have too many socks.

What aboit an Easiread bookholder? O a Gimble? (Does the same thing)
Little led booklights, fingerless mittens for holding books, definitely neewcookery books and ingredients.

nickelbabe · 28/04/2021 12:30

Sorry, it's Easy-read

3scape · 28/04/2021 12:32

Definitely stationery or pattern books and I'd LOVE some sewing lessons.

Hesma · 28/04/2021 12:39

I would ask for books, magazine subscription, one of those inside out umbrellas, a nice journal, for a friend to come over once allowed into the house with a take away and spend evening catching up.
Hope you have a love birthday OP 🥳

Glitteranddirt21 · 28/04/2021 13:06

Ticket master vouchers. - I got these once out of the blue but turned out to be one of the best present and one I then add to my list for when people asked.
Tickets for a day out.
For Christmas this year my parents brought us a family annual ticket for our local castle ( has beautiful grounds, maze, crazy golf and parks for the kids and bird of prey) and my ds got us annual tickets for the local farm. As we had no clue what we wanted and dc have so many toys already.

DappledThings · 28/04/2021 13:08

If you can't think of anything then surely you don't want anything and you can just say that?

MatildaTheCat · 28/04/2021 13:14

If you like cooking a friend recently did an online live cooking class with Jamie Oliver ( not him but a team member). There are different classes available but they did Vietnamese street food and loved it.

Bath oil

Nice scented candle

Delivery of flowers

I’ve got enough stuff so things you can do or use for a short while and enjoy are fab.

Divebar2021 · 28/04/2021 13:16

@cricketmum84

This one is by Ohdeer - the quality was good but the designs were not to my taste. You can check out past boxes and order as a one off to try.

I'd want to agree not to exchange gifts amongst people where no-one actually wants anything, leaving people free to buy their own stuff as and when they actually want/need it.
If you have to tell them what to buy, it's not a gift, they're just doing your shopping for you.

If they want to give you something when you meet up, they could just get you some flowers.

Sciurus83 · 28/04/2021 13:20

Vouchers for massage and/or facial/mani-pedi
Scented aromatherapy cadle
Voucher for yoga
A meal delivered from a nice local restaurant
That's kind of it really!
