Intense leg pain after second AZ jab

beaverbill · 28/04/2021 04:58

I’m posting here for traffic..I had my second jab on Friday afternoon. I’ve been awake since 3 initially with cramp in my leg that woke me. My leg is now feeling ‘dead’ and I can’t get comfortable or lay down because of it. It doesn’t look swollen. Any advice? Should I ring 111 or do I look like a mad woman?
I’m 41, healthy, not overweight.
Thanks.

I think that is exactly what 111 is there for. Phone!

Josette77 · 28/04/2021 05:03

Please pHone!

I had Pfizer but I did get some muscle cramps with it but that was within a 24 hour period afterwards. Is it hot or red where it sore? Can you walk on it? It could just be a night cramp but If worried and it would reassure you ring 111.

itsgettingwierd · 28/04/2021 05:05

Ring 111.

It may just be cramp or it could be something else. Why take the risk?

beaverbill · 28/04/2021 05:24

Thanks! No, not red and doesn’t appear swollen.
I’ve phoned them and someone is going to call back...it’s quite a strange feeling, an almost deadness running from my toes to my hip in just one leg.

Measure the circumference of your legs at the same point. While they might not look swollen, measuring will see if they are.

ThePawtriarchy · 28/04/2021 05:57

You’ve called 111 which is great but if it progresses at all I think I would go to A&E - I think this would warrant that.

ThePawtriarchy · 28/04/2021 05:57

I don’t think I would assume that it would need to be swollen for it to be a concerning reaction.

sbhydrogen · 28/04/2021 05:59

Is your leg hot to the touch anywhere?

ThePawtriarchy · 28/04/2021 06:00

Sorry for three separate messages but thinking about it, if 111 can’t back to you within a short timeframe then I think A&E is a good option given the numbness and pain.

devastating · 28/04/2021 06:30

I think A and E as well.

beaverbill · 28/04/2021 06:35

As usual, the NHS have been amazing. I’m now heading to a&e for blood test for DVT. Thanks to all of you for the advice!

I had EXACTLY the same after my first jab, in my left leg. Identical situation. After two weeks Blush, I finally phoned 111 and went through all the stages of getting checked for blood clots but all absolutely fine. Of course, as SOON as I'd been through all that it cleared up and hasn't been an issue since...

beaverbill · 28/04/2021 07:14

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross how strange! The triage nurse says people are presenting with lots of different side effects after jabs.

It could be a blood clot go to A&E and get checked out

Ilovechinese · 28/04/2021 10:11

Oh just read you're already going

Josette77 · 29/04/2021 03:54

OP how are you doing?
