To give up breastfeeding as I can't lose weight

Baby is 11 weeks old and I have been breastfeeding, I originally wanted to BF until baby turned 6 months but I feel like my body is retaining all my fat and not letting me lose any weight whilst I BF. I am 2 and a half stone overweight and despite healthy eating and exercise (walking) the scales will not go down, only up if I have the odd day where I have some biscuits or chocolate.
Has anyone else experienced this? I keep hearing that people who BF lose all their pregnancy weight really quickly, this couldn't be further from the truth for me

I know this is an old ish thread but wanted to say how reassuring it is!!! I was 60kg before baby, 86kg at birth and now 2 months pp I’m still 76kg… I also am contemplating stopping bf because I cannot stand to live with the weight gain. It’s really depressing and I feel so so ugly with it. I expected to lose weight with bf but my GP told me this morning that it’s the breastfeeding.. so brilliant to hear how many of you have lost weight after weaning etc. I really hope that will be me. Or I will have plastic surgery!!! Horrible. It makes no sense to me that women gain so much weight.. surely it’s contradictive to having second babies ha. There’s no way in hell I’ll feel comfortable enough to have sex with this hideous body. It’s like I’m wearing a fat suit! Thanks anyway all for your posts here really reassuring x
