AIBU?

To be concerned about these symptoms?

I absolutely ABU to ask here I know.

And I absolutely know I'm going to get a thrashing for asking when I could just call 111 but tbh I have found in the past they tend to over err on the side of caution (as fab as they can be too!)

I've been having lots of heart palpitations over the last few days and am also getting localised chest pain in the right side which feel like a pulled muscle but a lot sharper so more from the lungs I think.

Am able to cough fine. No blood. But pain increases with certain movements and in exertion.

Seems to be increasing over the course of the day.

I'm fat, smoke and not very mobile so obviously I'm not helping myself and believe me these things I am very conscious about and am making positive changes towards improving.

I'm thinking could it be a PE? I've had my first AZ jab but that was 6 or so weeks ago so don't think it's linked to that. No obvious signs of DVT. But the symptoms are worsening and I've found myself packing a bag just in case.

I'm an absolute dick for posting I know. And I have an EHCP in the family I can call but they tend to be very cautious tbh. I don't want to go to the hospital unless absolutely necessary (our Ooh is hospital based. No walk in as not in England)

In fact totally ignore me. I need to call 111 don't I?

Thanks for the help! Just typing it out made it glaringly obvious

You know what to do op.
Hope it turns out to be something minor but make that call.

Pack the bag and call. Better to go in early rather than later past 10pm

I'm guessing you hope people post to say they had the same after having AZ? Are you scared and hoping that's what will happen so you can convince yourself it's nothing potentially serious? Come on OP, you know you need to be seen.

I hope you're ok

If you call 111 with chest pains you will very very likely get a 999 ambulance. Can you get yourself to hospital instead? Might be quicker and in all honesty it doesn't sound as if you're too sick to get there yourself or as if you need immediate care from paramedics. Up to you.

Thank you. Not hoping that tbh. I doubt it's even linked. Just put it in in case someone asked. I know the odds are very small.

@Purplewithred that's my concern. Ring with chest pain get ambulanced in. I absolutely don't need that. I can get myself there. Thing is I'd rather go through the GP which means calling 111 for OOH and they'll tell me to go straight to A&E. I just feel very dramatic and don't want to waste their time. I know I'm being stupid. I'd not be impressed if someone was saying this to me!

Just getting my DC fed and sorted out and then I'll make the call or go.

Thanks for the kick up the bum! I'm sure it'll be absolutely nothing

If you think you have PE you absolutely do need to be ambulanced in.

Regardless, your symptoms tell you, you need an ambulance, doctors would rather treat you as an emergency and you not be really ill than the other way round.

Good luck.

The reason they ambulance in people with chest pain is because they don’t want you having a heart attack at the wheel!

I know going to hospital is a pita bit just ring 111 and go with whatever they say. I have had chest pains a couple of times during the pandemic and both times paramedics were sent (and were lovely). . One time they took me in and one time they didn’t (but would have - they gave me the choice along with the option to call again and they would come back).. They do a number of tests and it depends on the results as well as your symptoms as to what they suggest.

Never feel you are time wasting with chest pain. Good luck.

Do you have a walk in centre instead you could attend if you don’t fancy A&E?

I went to the walk in centre when I broke my ankle, I was in and out with in two hours and I had X-ray, cast and initial triage. I much prefer it, that way you won’t have the wait.
