Not to take a treat in for former colleagues?

I've been off sick from work for more than 18months and have officially left now. I'm going in to clear out my things and say goodbye to anyone around (shift work and rotating staff so varies who is about).

Ordinarily if I was leaving I would have taken a tub of chocs or something in on the last day, seems a bit arbitrary when I've already not been there for so long. Of course treats are always nice but I'm wondering whether to bother?

It means going out of my way by a good few miles and the extra time to get something (making my illness worse) and spending a fair bit to get enough for everyone to have them (I work in a place with about 11 different areas of which the teams rotate so to not get something for each area would be leaving people out) so it will cost £50-60 just getting something at £4-5 (smaller things wouldn't give everyone a crack at them).

What do you reckon?

AIBU not to bother?

Yes for take something
No for don't bother please

Thanks!

I don't know, not once have I brought anything when I left, it's the company and sometimes the colleagues who give something!

Thanks to all of you taking the time to respond.
There wouldn't have been an expectation. And the £50 ish would have been buying a tub of chocs for each area as there are 11/12 areas I worked in (all close in proximity) and without a shadow of a doubt, I overthink everything, that's why I was on here so you guys could be the voice of sanity! Grin

Been in and left again now. Got the chance to chat to some colleagues, some of whom went out of their way to come and find me when they heard I was there, so that was really nice.

Glad your last visit to collect your stuff went well and that you didn't go crazy to buy £50 of chocolates for a huge office that you didn't need to.

I'm sure your ex colleagues and friends loved seeing you to be able to say goodbye. It's sad when someone leaves through ill health and we usually don't get a chance to say goodbye and (Covidsafe air) hug them.
