Eye colour - who is right

Settle a debate between me and DH. Is DS’s eye colour blue, grey, or something else?

Blue -YABU
Grey - YANBU
Neither - you’ll have to put that in the comments

Green grey, would be easier to tell with a better lighted pic!

Changechangychange · 25/04/2021 22:56

@ToChangeorNotToChange yep that’s DH’s argument, that grey isn’t a real eye colour!

DS is 4, and he had dark blue eyes as a baby - they have definitely lightened. DH has brown eyes, so yes it’s possible DS is heading that way.

Photo was taken in daylight this afternoon (sunny day).

I’m sorry it’s so zoomed in, but it is the best I have of his eyes! He tends to shut them when a camera appears Grin

Grey.

altiara · 25/04/2021 23:02

Looks grey to me. But pic only comes up very small.

My DD was born with dark blue eyes, then they changed to grey (3 months), then brown (by 1 y) and are now more hazel (as a teen).

simbobs · 25/04/2021 23:05

Grey is an official eye colour, along with black, brown, blue, hazel and green. I would agree with most respondents. My DC both had bluish eyes when younger but have one has green eyes now, the other grey.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 25/04/2021 23:08

I'd say hazel Hmm

freecuthbert · 25/04/2021 23:32

They look grey in this photo. They actually look the same colour as my daughter's eyes, they're grey but look a bit blue on a sunny day outside.

NiceGerbil · 25/04/2021 23:39

My friend who has grey eyes they sometimes look green or blue in different lights

NiceGerbil · 25/04/2021 23:40

I can see in the light the eyes would look blue

Greygreenblue · 26/04/2021 00:19

I thought most if not all babies were born with dark blue eyes? Both my brown eyed girls went dark blue - hazel - brown.

My nephew has greenish grey eyes that are green or blue when he wears certain colours. They were blue-blue until he was 2-3 though. My sister still insists they are blue. I’ve seen my nephew (he’s 8) change his answer mid sentence when he realises his mum is in ear shot

It runs in the family. My mother still insists I have grey eyes. Maybe I did as a baby but they’ve been hazel as long as I can remember (I think I was 9 when I realised she was wrong). They also look different depending on my mood (green when happy and healthy, brown when grumpy/sick)....

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 26/04/2021 04:08

Grey with a black dot in the middle.

Guavafish · 26/04/2021 04:32

Blue

Tavannach · 26/04/2021 05:02

Overall grey. Blue patches on the nose side with less distinct hazel/green patches on the other side.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 26/04/2021 05:34

Greeny grey.

Bizawit · 26/04/2021 05:43

Green

sarahc336 · 26/04/2021 06:23

Of course grey is a true eye colour 😂😂 they're grey with a hint of blue which is you look T people is actually quite common cx

SaturdayRocks · 26/04/2021 06:29

That’s one small photo.

They look grey to me, but my BF’s eyes are blue/grey depending on the light or what she’s wearing.

I bet if you put him in a bright blue top, his eyes would look blue.

YehVaadaRaha · 26/04/2021 06:29

They look dark green to me. Closer to grey/brown.

AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 06:40

Grey is a very rare eye colour.

There's some interesting stuff around the colour of your eyes (proper science, not woo)

They look grey, but that doesn't mean they are grey 🤣

AlmostSummer21 · 26/04/2021 06:44

Mine were a gorgeous blue most of my childhood & until I was about 17. Then they've changed through a spectrum of g DH odour! Today they look green - but they can look blue, green, grey, & have flecks of other colours. Filling in forms used to worry me, now I just put 'other'

littlepeas · 26/04/2021 06:56

My eldest ds has definite grey eyes - there is no way you could argue they were anything other than grey and they remain grey no matter what is he is wearing, what sort of light he is in, etc. My younger ds has eyes that look grey indoors, blue outdoors and green when he is wearing his green school jumper!

In that photo they look grey, but it might depend a bit on the light, like my ds2, which may be why your dh says blue.

FrozenVag · 26/04/2021 06:59

Both my sons eyes went from blue to green when they were about 3 or 4.... I was amazed because I always thought eyes didn’t change after 2!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 26/04/2021 07:05

They are a similar colour to mine, though mine lean more to blue.

I'd probably refer to them as "blue-grey)
" - mine are "grey-blue". You'll probably find that they change colour depending on mood, it seems to be a thing with that sort of colour (mine are really blue if I'm upset, going more green if I'm happy) - it's a real thing!

debka · 26/04/2021 07:09

They look like my daughter's eyes: my party truck is to get people to guess what colour they are! She is very blonde and her eyes are grey: but in certain lights they look either green or blue.
