Deregistering a patient?
Dp has been deregistered (without notice or consent) for the offence of being too healthy - he hasn’t made an appointment in years so they just deregistered him as a patient.

He now can’t book for the vaccine (via NHS, walk-in clinic or GP) until he’s registered again, which could apparently take weeks as there’s a backlog (of fuming deregistered patients).

The reality is many won’t bother continually phoning the surgery (and being put on hold) every day and the vaccine roll out will be slowed. down.

Poppycat.. 9 times out of ten, the phone number is out of date too and there is no email! GP's do need to to be locations based as, for instance, a GP in Southampton, won't have the details of the bowel team in Preston.

Grin at "the bowel team".

How about the colon crew or the gastro gang? Smile

That's interesting, if 90% of men have the wrong details at their GP is there a large disparity between the vaccine take up of men and women? Is this a ticking timebomb that might derail the aim to get everyone done by the end of the summre?

Im 50 and i have never been offered a check up at 40, 45 or 50. I live in Wales, maybe we don't do it here. I do get offered a smear

Update on my post - 9 days and counting and dp has had an automated email from the surgery saying his registration has been rejected, no reason given. He's tried to call - goes to a recorded message that they are very busy and to call back.

After an hours wait at a walk in clinic (and an hours travel time) he had to get back for work but will try again tomorrow.
So far he's clocked up hundreds of pounds in lost earnings (he's self-employed).

(For those posters who haven't read all the earlier posts - no change of address, no change in contact details, no previous comms from the practice. Dd and I remain registered at the same practice and obvs have the same address).

Feel slightly better after completing the online practice complaints form (if only it brings the issue to light so the others don't have the same problems there).

OP have you tried to contact your MP over this mess?

theyworkforyou.com - obviously the email needs to be from your husband's email address. Some MPs are better than others at responding and helping.

Tealightsandd · 27/04/2021 16:14

That's seriously crappy behaviour from the surgery. Particularly under the circumstances of him needing his jab.

Is there another surgery nearby he could join? If he can't find one, the CCG will allocate him one. I don't know how quick the process would be.

I hope he succeeds in getting jabbed at the walk in tomorrow (without too much wait).

dameofdilemma · 27/04/2021 16:53

Sadly the three nearest practices (within our catchment) are all run by Centrena with centralised registration processes via an app.

He's relatively healthy so we're trying not to worry.
It is worrying though that he was turned down by the NHS booking line (despite being 48) and told to register with his GP.
This isn't the message that we're reading in the news headlines but is the reality.

@dameofdilemma can I ask how he realised he’d been deregistered? I tried to book online today, and got an error message saying that “we cannot find your vaccination record”, so now I’m wondering if the same thing has happened to me.

Tealightsandd · 27/04/2021 17:03

It all sounds a bit shit. Hopefully he'll get the jab at the walk in tomorrow.

To get registered somewhere, I guess he'll need to call the CCG. The centralised app system sounds like a pain in the arse.

@Mrsfrumble Might be worth checking with your GP. I hope they're more helpful than OP's

dameofdilemma · 27/04/2021 17:08

Mrsfrumble - he tried booking via the NHS line (when over 45s were invited) and was told they had no record of him. He then called the GP and was told he’d been deregistered (no reason given except he hadn’t needed an appointment for a while).,

Did he have his nhs number?

dameofdilemma · 27/04/2021 19:07

Maddening - yes he has his NHS number.

He called the surgery and asked why his registration was rejected and they didn't know, said someone would call him back today (they didn't call).
It's farcical.

Hi, OP.
Please call NHSE - they can allocate a practice directly. NHS England Customer Contact Centre on 0300 311 22 33

It is. He needs to call every day and ask to speak to practice manager. They’ve rejected him but don’t know why? Insane!

Meanwhile it may be worth binning it and going via NHSE as suggested if that is indeed a thing. It was ages ago but I got allocated a dentist in a similar way.

I think he needs to write to his mp too. Some MPs will be quite receptive to this kind of thing.
