To ask your BIGGEST dream in life?

PaddleBoardingMomma · 20/04/2021 19:40

One day, a few years from now, I want to be making a living fully independently and self sufficiently. Spending my days on the beach, on the water, my evenings making jewellery to sell. A quiet simple life! I don't have dreams of mega bucks or a lavish lifestyle, just enough to get by and be happy.

What's your biggest dream? Is it within reach? A pipe dream? Are you already living your dream?

My hope for this thread is to encourage people to go for what will make them happy, and offer advice on how to reach their goals if you can!

To be living comfortably in the Peak District with my DC and my best friend, in a b&b that we run together. Nothing fancy, just us in the fresh air with the people I love.

PatriciaBateman · 20/04/2021 21:48

To be part of the Mars early settlement landings. I'd take any time in space as a close runner-up.

I live in hope that it still might happen and made some of my life decisions to make sure there was always a crack of possibility.

blueshoes · 20/04/2021 22:09

rosebud

speakout · 20/04/2021 22:12

I live in a pleasant house surrounded by woodland.
I make more money than I need by making things to sell. I work from home, self employed.
Lots of for yoga, walks in the forest, trips to the beach.

MammaSchwifty · 20/04/2021 22:13

I want my kids to think well of me once they grow up

omgwhy · 20/04/2021 22:18

My biggest dream is to be painless and have 100% good health.

I didn't know what I had until this chronic pain developed, now I know how strong I can be but I'd give anything to not have pain.

You can all have my sports cars, acres of land, roses, listed building and billions of dogs, I have the dream and have worked so so hard for it all but it's worthless if you can't enjoy it.

So stay healthy and enjoy that moment in the morning when you just get out of bed, it's bliss l.

VanillaCokeZero · 20/04/2021 22:28

Several things!

To have a rewarding career doing something I love
To earn over £25k
To become a mum
To get a mortgage
To qualify in a caring profession
To see a specific album live

Managed to achieve them all by my early thirties and still can’t quite believe it. Still pinch myself every morning when I wake up in my own home and go pick up my perfect toddler. Drive to work feeling so overjoyed I get to go do a job I love that helps others and is well paid. Every hour of the day I think about how ridiculously lucky I am to have managed to create a beautiful baby and that he’s mine.

I’ve lived through a lot of difficulty and pain and trauma in my life and I don’t take anything for granted, the above might sound laughably modest but to me I’ve won the lottery.

Witchinthewardrobe · 20/04/2021 22:28

It’s more a state of mind, for me.

I want to know I’m good at my job.
I want to know I’ve contributed something positive to this world
I want to know I am loved.
I want those I love to know how much I love them.
I want to know that I’ll be missed when I’m gone.
I want to feel that I am enough.

When I can tick these off - I’ll be happy!

This is my dream too, to not be in pain every day and to be able to wake up in the morning without that sinking feeling of dread. Occasionally I wake up and for the first 10 seconds or so I forget I am ill, and then the reality kicks in that it’s just another day consumed by pain.

All my other dreams - a rewarding career,
a rich social life, children, travel etc have all been killed off by my health (or lack of!)

Ibizafun · 20/04/2021 22:45

For my children to find their feet and have a happy life.

omgwhy · 20/04/2021 22:55

@Everley sending big hugs to enjoy the 10 seconds each morning when we forget 🤦‍♀️ or when we get drunk.

I love this thread though so sorry didn't want to make it all morbid..

ILoveAnOwl · 20/04/2021 22:59

A house by the sea, happy children, enough money to pay the bills, a size 12 figure and a marvellous lover with whom to drink wine have lots of marvellous sex.

Clydesider · 20/04/2021 23:04

Me & my husband want to buy a small piece of land somewhere rural and build a bungalow. I have mobility issues and struggle with stairs. We want it to have a wet room, 2 but preferably 3 bedrooms, a separate dining room and a garage. I'd like a little garden at the front and a bit more garden/patio space at the back. Ideally, this would be on, or next to, a farm, like a previous home we rented.

I don't think we're asking for a lot. We aren't greedy; we just want to have enough to get by and to have a suitable and comfortable home.

earsup · 20/04/2021 23:11

To spend more time in sunny places to avoid the depressing Feb cold here in the UK....thats all....

greendress789 · 20/04/2021 23:12

To have another child 🙏

CherryJane · 20/04/2021 23:14

Travel. There's so much of the world I want to see.

Once life opens up again and proper travel insurance fir travellers mot tourists is available again, I'm off.

Ilovemaisie · 20/04/2021 23:15

My dream is to live in a simple 3 bedroom house with garden on the same 1970s housing estate I grew up on, to be able to afford a car and be confident enough to drive it and for my daughter to be happy and not struggle with her ASD.
That the last one is the only one that is likely to be possible but ironically would be more achievable if we could afford to live in my dream 1970s simple house (so near my family, quiet estate, small town) and have a car so we can get to more places and experiences for her.
Damm... now I am sad Sad

Wishihadanalgorithm · 20/04/2021 23:21

Biggest dream is to be living on a house boat for about half of the year. During that time I will be writing my novel, travelling up and down various waterways and taking in different scenery and views of Britain.

The rest of the time I will be back at home and making sure I see friends and family and enjoying life without responsibilities.

It sounds like heaven.

Sobloodyexhausted · 20/04/2021 23:22

To visit Japan

To be debt free and stay that way

For my children to be happy, useful, hard working members of society

To renovate our house completely and eventually trade it for somewhere less urban once the kids are grown up.

blueshoes · 20/04/2021 23:25

Dd is happy and at peace with herself and found her niche in the world.

Usernameisgone · 20/04/2021 23:25

My biggest dream was always to have a child but I think that is passing me by now....

Achieved my other dream of living in another country.

SingleHandSue · 20/04/2021 23:27

To finally have a wonderful holiday abroad.

I’ve never left these shores and long for a trip somewhere interesting and beautiful with the chance to eat and drink in lovely restaurants.

We were planning a trip away last year for my 40th but obviously that went tits up! Not sure it’s affordable again now for a couple of years at least.

I might just get a holiday before I turn 50 Grin

RainbowMum11 · 20/04/2021 23:32

Hmm, I have to say I have been fortunate in many ways and I am very happy with my life as it is now - me & DD in our little home, I run my own business which has really taken off (and allows me to work part time while bringing in just enough money) and have amazing family & friends close by.
I am going to save up to take my DD to Guadeloupe when she is older, but I have to say that after years of very hard work & studying, and various personal traumas, I am happy.

1984isnow · 20/04/2021 23:33

To not work. I am thirty so a long way off retirement unfortunately but I dream of the day I can afford to just quit or at least drop down to one or two days maximum.

I want to spend my time gardening, having time to look after myself, see family, go out, cook big decent meals. Not try to cram it all in on a weekend

user1473878824 · 21/04/2021 02:25

I would like to win the lottery and be filthy rich. And then disgustingly philanthropic while still being filthy rich.

Really though I’d just love to have a baby.
