To encourage people to get help for COVID fear

Slightly outing but I’m going to go for it. Please be kind.

Honestly, COVID paranoia destroyed my mental health. I was so scared of getting coronavirus (irrationally due to age) that I completely shut down and over Christmas became totally isolated and borderline suicidal (ended up calling the Samaritans who were amazing). I guess what I’m trying to call attention to is the importance and the hope of getting help dealing with this should you need it.

Since seeking CBT I’ve been able to see people again (outside) and even (not a big deal for most people I know!) go to the shops and to get my hair cut 🤦‍♀️ I guess the point of this post is to encourage people to seek help with this health anxiety. It truly can be debilitating. There can be light at the end of the tunnel.

I had a similar situation last year. I just went completely round the twist with anxiety. I rang my GP who was amazing. I went on medication and it really helped. Always ask for help.

So glad to hear you are feeling better @Northernsoullover

My BF is struggling with this, and I don't know what to do. It so difficult as he's wanting me to limit what I do too. Which means I either limit myself completely or sneak around behind his back. Neither are very good options Confused

Or tell him you're doing what you are comfortable with. Why do you think you have to do what he tells you?

@BonnieDundee you're right, it's something I discussed with my therapist. I'm going to do exactly that, what I feel comfortable with Smile

YA so NBU OP. A relative of mine ended up sectioned (no history of MH issues) due to spiralling anxiety.
It’s really important for people to seek help if they find anxiety is debilitating or controlling their decisions.
