I was wondering today whether GPs see other GPs if they are ill? Can anyone tell me? I'm assuming yes as they wouldn't be allowed to prescribe medications for themselves?

What other random things have you always wondered/wanted to know?

Why are male lions so big, strong, and muscley when they just sleep in the sun all day? Confused

MindGrapes · 19/04/2021 18:43

This isn't anything tricky or clever but I still don't actually know.
Red meat eg beef steak is meant to be avoided if you have high blood pressure/ cholesterol etc. Is the red bit still fatty/bad for you or is it just the white bits that are fat? I know in a good steak it's marbled with fat so you would never be able to remove it, but in theory if you could, would it be as healthy as e.g. lean chicken breast?

@Frazzledd

How she works out 'which door leads to the castle/which door leads to boom boom boom boom certain death.....!' in Labyrinth.....I thought I had it this weekend, tried to explain it to DH and apparently I don't....
This I do know! If one is reporting what the other says, there will always be one lie. If Truthful one correctly reports that the Lying one says A is the door to certain death, you know A isn't the door to certain death.

If the Lying one untruthfully reports that the Truthful one would say A is the death door, you know A isn't the death door.

They are the only two possibilities when you ask one what the other would say!

@Blerg

Is there a height of tower above which you don’t get bugs / creature infestations - ants, cockroaches, mice etc?

Like you get ants attacking your bin on floor 12, but not above floor 42.

You'd hope they'd be dealt with by the time they've reach floor 12 so don't carry on to 42....but if left unattended I'm not sure they're too concerned about heights (now imagining some cockroach bouncer types smoking a fag blocking off floor 13...'no further for you antboy, down y'go....'

@WhereismyHeathcliff

When you give birth how quickly does your cervix close back to normal...it can take hours to dilate so does it take the same amount of time? Any midwives on here know the answer?
Not a midwife. Having a hysteroscopy (camera into womb) soon which they will dilate my cervix for. Wouldn't imagine it would be anywhere near wide enough for a baby to pass through- bloody well hope not anyway- and they've said showers rather than baths and no sex for a week after to avoid infection risk as it closes. Does that help?!
Frazzledd · 19/04/2021 18:51

@MindGrapes see I understood this for a brief moment on Sunday, tried to explain it but even reading how you've described it (very well btw!!) It still messes with my mind!!!

Friend used to live on the 18th floor of a tower block on an undesirable estate in SE London. There were many many cockroaches! Revamped the block years later and sold as luxury riverside apartments Confused

You mean your mindgrapes are frazzled...

Think about how it would work if they both told the truth.
Then if they both lied (ok that's probably even harder)!

TSSDNCOP · 19/04/2021 19:08

There were cockroaches in the loo of the Rainbow Room in NYV, that's on the 65th floor! 🪳

TSSDNCOP · 19/04/2021 19:09

NYC Hmm

Rules of rugby.
League or union? Two different sports.
Wiebsa · 19/04/2021 19:12

I don’t know about lions but I do have a big boxer dog who is very docile and spends most of his time chilling. He is in superb condition, very muscular, people praise me for all the hours of walks/runs I take him on. Even vets praise me for all the exercise he clearly gets Grin. Not at all, I am pretty sure it’s all down to testosterone.

@Advic3Pl3as3

1. How do women with really long fingernails put in/take out their tampons? Don’t the long nails make it really awkward?
  1. If you’re injured/unwell and unconscious and you wear contact lenses do the A&E check whether you’ve got lenses in and take them out?
Answer number 2, yes they take them out. I don't know the answer to number 1 sorry
giftswap2020 · 19/04/2021 19:39

If a woman is taken ill/unconscious and is rushed to hospital, and they are on their period and have a tampon in, does someone check if they are on your period/tampon in, so they could change it for them?

DynamoKev · 19/04/2021 19:42

@OldEvilOwl

How to hot wire a car in case we get a zombie apocalypse
You can’t hot wire modern cars. On old cars it was just a wire the bypass the ignition switch and it only worked on petrol cars.

Actually, you can sort of Hotwire some of them but it needs a lot of electronic kit and expertise.

How do they make Maltesers perfectly round?

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 19/04/2021 19:52

Ooh, and what happened in the Dyatlov pass incident. That still intrigues me

Doxie8 · 19/04/2021 19:53

I'm a total introvert and used to be very shy. I've always wanted to know what it's like to be an extrovert, be able to talk to anyone, be so self assured.

berryhead2013 · 19/04/2021 19:54
