AIBU to feel proud of myself?

Name changed for this as I'm well aware that for many this will seem an embarrassingly small achievement which is why I don't feel able to share with anyone IRL.

I am seriously overweight- actually in the obese category with BMI 31.
I have a long running history of disordered eating (bulimic, food restrictive in my teens until early 20s, binge eater from early 20s until today). Since having my DD 3 years ago I have really not taken care of myself and piled the weight on since pregnancy.
Following a recent MC I felt spurred into prioritising my health and so I spent my birthday money on a second hand crosstrainer.
I've had it for just under 3 weeks now.
In the first few days of owning it I couldn't go longer than 5 mins on it without feeling too breathless to continue (it felt pretty devastating to realise how unfit and out of shape I'd let myself become- I used to be a proper gym bunny in my 20s).
I decided to increase my time on it by 1 minute every time I used it and today I hit 15 minutes and just over 5km on resistance level 5.
I am really chuffed with myself and have my next target to get to 20 mins per use on that resistance level and to do it at least 4 times a week.
So yep- I'm super proud right now. Hot, sweaty, red but proud.

Would be lovely to hear anyone else's Sunday achievements if you have any- so, in the words of Heather Small: what have you done today to make you feel proud?! Grin

That's awesome op well done! So good that you stuck with it despite the first go being so difficult and have already improved so much. Good luck for next week. After a lazy Easter holiday I'm back on my indoor bike tomorrow so will be competing with you in the red face stakes!

Well done OP, that's bloody brilliant. Once my sinus infection clears I'm going to get back on my bike. The weather is so much nicer making it more appealing.

You should be proud of yourself, that's an amazing achievement!! Well done you. You'll find the benefits to your mental health are every bit good as the physical.

Thanks everyone Smile @ItoldyouIwastrouble and @Iyland wishing you both the best getting back on your bikes in the upcoming days!

I can't even do 5 minutes! Well done

itsgettingwierd · 18/04/2021 17:59

Well done. I can barely manage a minute.

It's so odd as I can walk for hours but out me in a treadmill or cross trainer and I'm useless!

LetsGoChamp · 18/04/2021 18:01

Well done OP! Sometimes the ‘small’ things are the biggest things!

You can do it!
