To ask if anyone hear speaks Romanian?

DD (year one) told me today that a boy at school keeps saying Hello Mincha to her. She asked a Romanian girl what he said but all she would say is that the boy doesn’t like DD. Can anyone translate? I googled but couldn’t find anything...she’s adamant it’s mincha!

Yes. I'm Romanian. That means nothing, he either said something else or it's not something that has to do with Romanian at all.

Thank you! Hmmm, I wonder if there are any words similar to it. It’s upset her because the other girl has said that he doesn’t like her but won’t tell her the meaning of it. He’s new to the class and she hasn’t interacted with him so she is totally confused as to why he doesn’t like her.

According to urban dictionary:

Mincha is a person who can be very annoying, usually Mincha is a junky. Mincha believes that she/he is cool and unique.

It really doesn't sound like anything I can think of. Well, "mingea" (read it as "minja") means "ball" but that makes no sense. Maybe it's short for something, like her name or a nickname?

Thank you, you have put my mind at ease. Think I’m hyper sensitive to these things as my DD is mixed race and a couple of comments have been made by children before. Her name isn’t anything like that. It’s a mystery!

There you go then, has nothing to do with Romanian.

It is unlikely that a Year 1 boy is fluent in teenage lingo though. Not to mention that 99% of "name meaning" content on urban dictionary seems to be made up - try looking up your own real name, for example.

I'm Romanian and does not mean anything to me either. There is not such a word in Romanian .

It doesn't actually mean anything in Romanian 😊
