Neice's little one is a year old soon. Stumped about what birthday present to get for him. Budget about £20. Although I have DC, can't remember what they enjoyed at that age.
Thanks in advance!

I would get something suitable for 18mos and up to ensure it lasts

This!

Scuttlebug. £20. Sturdy. Used for years and can be folded up and put away.

Scuttlebug is a brilliant suggestion!

I like to buy a little backpack/rucksack for first birthdays, I've bought them from jojo maman bebe in the past and they've always been well recieved. Useful for carrying a nappy and a packet of wipes when you don't need a full changing bag and very useful for nursery.

Magnetic cars. My children had them and were obsessed at that age!

Premium bonds or stick it in a savings account ... when my DS was younger he (very lucky I know) got so many presents but wasn't really interested .... best presents were money that could be invested for his future .. he's 20 now and has been able to build up a substantial savings fund.

We got given a Moonlite projector, it clips to your phone and uses the torch to project through a wheel of slides of pictures from a story. The app then has the stories on with sound effects etc.

We got given loads of books and toys, this really has stood out as a great but unusual gift!

Get a ball!! My DD absolutely loves playing with them. We have a small football and small basketball. They're probably about 10-15cm across.

She plays with them loads and you don't grow out of a ball! Easy, portable, endless games, super simple, doesn't take up a lot of space, can be shoved in a bag and taken to the park, perfect present.

LAgeDeRaisin · 16/04/2021 21:55

(It was her favourite 1st birthday present and she was spoiled rotten with piles of other stuff. She loves the ball. It was about £10.)

Stacking pots in bright colours. Mine played with them for years! When young just loved bashing them and loved the colours. Then learned to stack them. Then they became cups, or stands, or used in the bath, or anything really. All 3 of mine loved them. By far the most used toy any of them ever had.
