To love working?

Anyone else? Looking for my tribe? I love my job, love being busy, the pressure but then the success. Solving problems, working on great projects etc etc. Do you love your job and enjoy going to work? I am genuinely excited by my job every day!! I'm on my lunch break right now and just thought I'd ask this off the back of the "AIBU- to hate working!" Thread!

I find all the things you all say you get from work from the things i do outside work - work gives me the money nothing more.

I think that thread was not about hating your job but hating working.

My job is to ensure people who do not have the Mental Capacity to speak for themselves due to learning disability, mental health dementia etc still have all their human rights respected. So to most people it would seem a worthwhile valuable role but i much prefer not working as it certainly is not as intellectually challenging, stimulating or rewarding as the things i do outside work.

Maggiesfarm · 16/04/2021 14:03

I love going to work. I do three days a week, flexible, which suits me. The job is varied and interesting, I dread giving it up in a few years when I retire.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 16/04/2021 14:04

I like my job and my colleagues are great but if I won the lottery you wouldn't see me for dust Grin

MedusasBadHairDay · 16/04/2021 14:06

I love mine too, its been quite a revelation having a job I love instead of one I just put up with.

Thesagacontinues · 16/04/2021 14:08

@Cindy87

Yes, me too. I really struggled when on Mat leave. I love my job but mostly I love the balance it brings to my life, my family, my relationship.
Exactly this.
WookieWoo · 16/04/2021 14:15

I also love working. Sometimes I can't stand my job - it can be incredibly stressful at times but I still like working. It's interesting and I am making a difference in my corner of the world. That fills me with immense satisfaction. Even on days when I want to go on a "Michael Douglas in falling down rampage", I would still rather be working than at home all the time. As much as I love my home, I don't need to be in it all day every day!

GreenLeafTurnip · 16/04/2021 14:17

Yep love my job as well. Feel very lucky because I always thought I'd be like my mum and hate working!

SpikeDearheart · 16/04/2021 14:19

I love my job. Sometimes it's stressful, but overall I still love it. It's interesting, it stretches me and I feel valued. I was quite happy to go back after maternity leave, although I did drop to 4 days a week which so far is working well for me.

bunglebee · 16/04/2021 14:21

I really enjoy working. I need a lot of intellectual and social stimulation. I like challenge, variety, problem solving, collaboration, achieving large goals. My work is flexible and well paid and I have a great boss.

bunglebee · 16/04/2021 14:21

Also, I know I can always take care of myself and mine and keep us secure. I sleep well off the back of that.

Buggerthebotox · 16/04/2021 14:25

I enjoy my work, which is challenging intellectually and practically, but it is poorly paid, with no prospects. I dislike the organisation I work for.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 16/04/2021 14:25

In your tribe too.

My work is in the public eye and sought after.

I don't mind logging on Monday morning at all.

FloconDeNeige · 16/04/2021 14:27

Yes, I love my job. I’m a (long-term) expat pharmaceutical scientist for a MNC in Switzerland. It is challenging, innovative, extremely interesting and meaningful. We’ve generated a COVID-19 vaccine 💉

That's amazing, well done!
EssentialHummus · 16/04/2021 14:36

Yes. I run a food bank, after some years working as a lawyer. I absolutely love it - the variety of work, the value in it, the volunteers who turn up daily to make it all happen. It's absolutely brilliant.

qualitygirl · 16/04/2021 14:36

@FloconDeNeige yay!! Well done!! I'm in pharmaceuticals too!! Global top 20! Love working for them. Just heading home now, that's flexi time for ya! 🤣

Some years ago I had a job for a while that I just put up with. I became very depressed. Never again, I have to get something out of working apart from the money.
FloconDeNeige · 16/04/2021 14:51

Thanks everyone!

I think this is a big part of why I love it; it feels useful. I also love science and always have, so that’s a big help too.

FloconDeNeige · 16/04/2021 14:53

I should also say I’m very passionate about women in STEM and my company are extremely supportive too, so this fires me up as well 🔥

qualitygirl · 16/04/2021 17:36

It's so nice to see so many of a similar mind to me!! 🙋‍♀️

I enjoy my job. It's intellectually very stimulating. There is an element of pride in the projects I do going on to keep people safe too.

TrixieFatell · 16/04/2021 17:42

I have a love hate thing with my job. When it's good it's amazing but it can be really stressful and scary at times (midwife)

Hardbackwriter · 16/04/2021 17:52

I really like not just my job but working - I've discovered in the past that I struggle without the structure, stimulation and sense of working towards something. That said, I've always had jobs where I have a lot of autonomy in terms of control over how I use my time and not much micro-management and a reasonable degree of flexibility over hours - I noticed that lack of this came up as a repeated reason to hate working on the other thread.

Wellarentyoujustapeach · 16/04/2021 18:04

I'm a physiotherapist working in the nhs. I have both loved and hated my job at different times in my career depending on the setting, team and conditions.

It's a job you can make a real difference to someone's life, it's interesting, I feel I'm always learning something new after 20years practice.

The downside - the nhs politics, understaffed, cuts year on year and the shitshow that is covid and it's management.

I can't imagine not working though.
