To feel that F1 is taking over my weekends?!

DH is a massive F1 fan, he likes to watch the qualifiers and race. He watches the practices on a Friday on his tablet when he's working so that doesn't bother me.

But.... on the Saturday and Sunday everything has to revolve around d when the quali and race is on tv.

He has to watch them live as otherwise gets the results spoilt.

He says it's not long and not unreasonable for him to ask to watch 2/3 hours of tv every other week or so.

But my argument is that there in smack bang in the middle of the day so whatever we plan to do that weekend we have to be back in time for it starting or wait until it finished to go out.

It's driving me mad!!!!!

My OH and I love watching and we have kids. If we miss it it is no big deal. No sky so we watch on Channel 4 and try to keep off social media.

I watch both F1 and MotoGP - have done for 30 years (back when MotoGP was 500cc). I used to watch every qualifying and every race live. When I had a family that changed.

Now I only prioritise MotoGP races. They are about an hour long, and if I can, I will savour watching them live.

If I can watch the F1, for sure I do. If everyone else is occupied doing something, why not?

But whatever the case is - family first and If my partner/kids want to do something, then i will do that.

Things change 🤷‍♀️ I have to admit, if I could I would watch all the races and qualifying, but I can't so that's life.

I do think the watching the qualifying is excessively indulgent though if you have kids. I mean, if I can, I will but I feel quite guilty afterwards regardless of whether everyone was occupied or not.

The 5live coverage of races is not bad. I often stick the radio very low in the car if we are going somewhere.

I'll admit that doing something else whilst a MotoGP race is on requires gritting my teeth though.

I love watching sport, generally prefer it to most other forms of entertainment, I don’t watch soaps for instance, but I do watch TV.

I grew up with a Dad that played sport every weekend and mid week, a mum that either played herself or took us to watch dad.

DH is not a great sports fan, but he does like F1. He only watches qualifying and the race, whereas I have watched practice and will usually watch some of the build up and post race coverage too. Our D.C. are also fans and will watch.

We don’t always watch live as we can’t spend 20 odd weekends sitting around in the middle of the day. Well when we are in lockdown we do, but this weekend we will be out shopping when qualifying is on and are meeting up with friends on Sunday so will watch the race in the evening.

Can you go out on your own or with your DC?
