To think the interviewer would be put off?

Had an impromptu job video interview via Microsoft teams today. I applied for the job this morning, and was sent a link to the interview in the afternoon. I have never used Teams before, and have only just realised that the interview panel may have seen my profile photo and could be put off.

It’s my personal Microsoft account and the photo was uploaded years ago. It’s not something I regularly see/use/update else it would have been removed pronto. The photo is a filtered selfie from a night out and not professional at all. I’m wearing a crop top which essentially looks like a bra🤦🏼‍♀️ (I am flat chested so nothing was on show)

I’m not sure how Teams works, but I’m guessing they would have seen the cringe profile photo. Have I scuppered my chances of securing this job?

They wouldn't see your profile photo if you're on video, which I assume you was for an interview.

Bit of a red flag if they wanted you to interview on the same day as applying though!

I think on Teams if you’re a guest they should only see your initials instead of a profile picture, so shouldn’t be a problem. Good luck for the job!

@HumunaHey

Red flag why?

I wouldn’t care OP but as others said I don’t think they’d see it - I can’t recall seeing any whilst on Teams.

Wish I knew could have used teams without logging in! I was logged on with my personal account😬

Hoping they didn’t see it or don’t care, thank you.

They said they interviewed me quickly because I scored highly on their aptitude tests. Is that a red flag?

@Merryoldgoat It squite unprofessional to ask someone to interview the same day. It also makes them look pretty desperate. I've had my fair share of jobs when I was younger and the ones that would do speedy interviews were not good places to work.

These are strange times we're living in though, so OP's situation might be different.

I couldn't give a toss about somebody's personal profile photo. If it was their work profile, then I might raise an eyebrow. I interview a lot of candidates 👍

Merryoldgoat · 14/04/2021 23:49

I’d really not think that - If I was advertising for a fairly specific role and had an application that ticked all the boxes I’d get them in ASAP - with video conferencing if that could be same day then fab.

@sbhydrogen thanks for the reassurance! Secretly hoping you were my interviewerBlush

@HumunaHey thanks for giving me something to consider. I think the speedy interview was a symptom of the pandemic. Also the application form was basic as it was heavily test-based with various aptitude tests, so presumably they could sift candidates by score fairly swiftly.
