Too late if I am as he asked this morning if he could go to the barbers (very close to our house and he walks past all the time on his way to the shop) and I said yes!

He's super proud of himself although acknowledges he struggled to explain what he wanted. Grin. It looks fine. At our local there are really only two hair styles (short all over, or short on sides and longer on top), with slight variations based on whether the sides are number 2 or number 5 so it's not like it had any chance of coming out crazy!

Boy mums are super lucky with them going to the barbers on their own. Inexpensive too. Taking DD for cut and blow dry of waist length hair followed by curling, 2 hours of waiting about followed by huge bill. Very jealous.

Normal round here too. Pre-COVID there would be a queue of boys with their ten pound notes when it was the drop in times for 10-16 year olds
My sons have quite conservative tastes so i knew that there was little chance of them returning with an extreme hairstyle.

Boys need more frequent haircuts ime.

Curling is surely an optional extra? Grin

DD only gets her hair cut about once every 6 months and it's usually me who does it still. DS has been having 6 weekly hair cuts since he was about 6 weeks old himself! Having said that, DD does have a lot of expensive hair products already as she has very curly hair!

Not sure why the sarcastic comments about why I posted - it was a bit of a laugh. That's allowed surely?

Boys haircuts cost less but the frequency means that you need up spending more per year ime.
Ds goes every 4-6 weeks where as dd can get away with once every 6-12 months as she doesn't need colour and has that teen hair which only needs trimming to keep ends healthy.

Marylou2 · 15/04/2021 13:03

Yes🤣🤣 I'm not putting proper thought into how often they go am I ?
Totally agree re shampoo ,conditioners and product all though I'm sure boys use a good amount of those too these days !

I once tried to send teenage DD to the hairdressers without me and they wouldn't do it, think she was 14.

My DN is a girl, and our local barber loves it when she comes because he’s learning how to cut women’s hair and practices on her. It’s awful. He really has no idea what he’s doing and sending her for a simple £3 trim can result in needing a £40 haircut elsewhere to fix the problem.
