AIBU?
E-scooters

Having seen the way that people were riding the things in other parts of the country, I knew that it was only a matter of time before someone was seriously hurt. AIBU to think that they should be better regulated?

Am I being unreasonable?

They're already illegal to use unless you're on public land or in one of the areas that's participating in a trial run of public hire.
That doesn't stop people riding them on roads and pavements though. Agree it needs more enforcement but so do many things and our police forces have been severely underfunded for ages.

Yes they should be better regulated. But no, they shouldn't be illegal. They're economical, green, convenient, and overall not an inherent danger. They shouldn't be on pavements either. There should be 2 classes, 1) 12.5 mph and below, avg short journey, and 2) higher powered near motorbike/car replacements.
Are they inherently dangerous as some media outlets hype them up to be (for clicks, views) no. Wear safety gear and ride them as you would a bike, with respect to others and NOT on pavements etc.
Sorted 👍🏼

Yes, they are inherently dangerous to the rider. Hit a pothole with that small a wheel and the chances are you're off.

You cannot use your own scooter even if there is a trial.
