This is just too much!

I need something to do.

Any ideas of what is allowed to open which I can do?!

Which country are you in?

You can go to a coffee shop etc, just can't drink in. Essential shops. Walk in the woods / beach / hike.

On Monday you can add a beer garden.

You can also meet up with up to 5 friends outside atm

It says half a year
HumunaHey · 08/04/2021 22:42

@SleepingStandingUp Oh yes. Silly me!

LemonSwan · 08/04/2021 22:45

I am UK. I know things are opening up but I need something to actually do. Like a class, or a club, or something!

We have a month still until gyms/ indoor classes are open.

Anything we can do in the meantime?

It's shit op. Some days I could just scream at the monotony and some nights I go to bed early just to end the day. But some semblance of good times are just around the corner so hang in there.

StealthPolarBear · 08/04/2021 22:48

I'm reasonably happy as we can now see family and friends. Unless the weather is awful.

LemonSwan · 08/04/2021 22:52

All my friends live hours away so that is not an option for an outdoor visit.

Are we allowed social bubble visit overnight yet?

@whenwillthemadnessend

Very apt name! You feel my pain :)

OMG I am so sorry - no idea how this ended up in feminism chat!

OP posts:
NiceGerbil · 08/04/2021 22:54

I think you've put this in feminist chat by accident!

So I'll say, why not read a load of well regarded feminist books?

(And tbh I don't know, I want to go to the pub and clubs and gigs and I hate this so much).

Quaagars · 08/04/2021 22:55

I'm looking forward to things starting to open up even more on Monday.
Since March 29th I've been able to meet up with my parents again, and friends, which is great.
Sitting outside in a beer garden or an outside cafe area is on my agenda for next week, along with I've got myself booked in for a hair cut!

NiceGerbil · 08/04/2021 22:56

Lol xpost.

We've got you now

Quaagars · 08/04/2021 22:57

Ha, was wondering how this was a feminist issue but answered anyway lol

LemonSwan · 08/04/2021 22:59

I am so sorry nicegerbil - I have reported. Clearly lost the plot over here!

I have started reading actually. Never ever read fiction. I am currently a third way through Nine perfect strangers.

Thanks quaagars I should book a meal and a haircut. Good ideas

Weirdly it’s really hit me tonight quite how shit it’s been - I’ve kind of powered on through and then on the cusp of things about to open up I’ve broken down a bit. I think now things are looking a bit brighter you can actually let your guard down and really let yourself acknowledge what a fucked up year we’ve just lived through. Please just let this be the end!

LemonSwan · 08/04/2021 23:13

sugar
Thats exactly whats happened to me too.

Now I am looking to try and find things to book to look forward to and no one has dates up yet and those that do are fully booked. I have searched yoga classes, watercolour classes, bloody windsurfing and even golf haha!

If we go back into another lock down I just have no idea what I would do. Just take a sabbatical and hibernate through the whole thing

God don't apologise! It was a joke Grin

I've found the last year incredibly tough. Lost my marbles totally really. It's been total shit.

Strangely one of the things that hit me most was how many people (at work etc, we are all WFH) really like it.

Sugarbellaella · 08/04/2021 23:19

Yeah - it’s so hard to make plans. My social group are all a bit dispersed so it’s not quite a simple as having people round for drinks in the garden one eve but still feels tricky to arrange anything a bit more complicated. I’ve gave up my gym membership in lockdown and now beginning to regret that now you can book in again!

YouNoob · 08/04/2021 23:23

I've liked it but even I'm ready to move on now.

Langsdestiny · 08/04/2021 23:27

I played mini golf the other day Grin

Since bubbles were introduced, you can legally stay overnight as you're treated as one household.
NiceGerbil · 08/04/2021 23:32

My personality is sort of

I like and need my own company, to be by myself completely, a fair bit

But

I also like being with people under certain circs. I like being in the office and chatting to everyone. And I love being out drinking, dancing. I still go to clubs sometimes, love gigs, go to festivals etc.

So being at home all the time usually with other people

And also not able to go out and have fun

Is the worst of both worlds really

persistentwoman · 08/04/2021 23:43

I'm normally quite self sufficient but the last couple of months has been very hard. My adult children have also found it a challenge - and that's despite all of us being able to work.
It's increasingly difficult to navigate the current looking forward to things easing alongside all the gloomy - 'there'll be another wave".

stumbledin · 08/04/2021 23:50

Hi visiting OP

.gov.uk says gyms can open on the 12th - if that is what you are hoping for.

From Monday 12 April additional premises will be able to reopen – with the rules on social contact applying. Indoor settings must only be visited alone or with household groups, with outdoor settings limited to either six people or two households.

This includes non-essential retail; personal care premises such as hairdressers, beauty and nail salons; and indoor leisure facilities such as gyms and spas (but not including saunas and steam rooms, which are due to open at Step 3).

Overnight stays away from home in England will be permitted and self-contained accommodation can also reopen, though must only be used by members of the same household or support bubble.

Public buildings such as libraries and community centres will also reopen.

The majority of outdoor settings and attractions can also reopen, including outdoor hospitality, zoos, theme parks, drive-in cinemas and drive-in performances events.

Hospitality venues will be able to open for outdoor service, with no requirement for a substantial meal to be served alongside alcohol, and no curfew. The requirement to eat and drink while seated will remain.
