Writing and publishing a book

Not really an AIBU just posting for traffic.

I've always enjoyed writing horror and illustrating.
I've got about 10 short stories and have designed a book cover. I'd say it could be aimed at teenagers and adults, and would love to go about getting something published.
I could start by sharing it on social media maybe and see how it's received?
Has anybody ever written a book/had one published before and how did you start out?
Thanks

My boyfriend pissed himself at my front cover for about an hour so that was a good start lol.

Self publishing seems the best route, try and get an online following on the likes of YouTube or Instagram and advertise through that.

I watch a lot of Jenna Moreci in YouTube. She is in the states but the process seems quite similar.

Good luck OP! If you do publish it, could you pm me the link? I love horror short stories

Thank you! Good Luck OP!

Look at sites that offer print per purchase too (if you want hard copy options). Much lower cost and no storage Smile

You can self publish via Amazon.

I wouldn't recommend publishing anything until someone else has read it and given you some feedback. They may spot howlers you're unaware of.

You could ask a friend, or find a beta-reader (try horror genre fan groups on e.g. Facebook) - some authors do swaps and read each other's work and comment for free. Or you can hire a professional editor. Some provide critiques that will help you improve your writing; others just do copy-edits to make sure your work is grammatical and clear.

There are lots of useful links and resources here

good luck!
