To think this charge seems quite high?

Just received my bi-annual factoring bill and noticed that the total charge for the electricity within the common close is £308. So for a year, this is roughly £616.

Over £50 a month seems a lot for electricity when all I can think it covers is lights (which rarely seem to be on) and the door entry systems.

My actual share isn't really worth quibbling over, but I'm curious as to what others pay/think?

Not helpful, but factor fees used to be a real bugbear for me while living in new build houses. It really is just money for old rope!

No, no outside lighting. We're right on a main street so there's no need.

I've paid these factor fees for four years, but never paid much attention to this element!

Find out what supplier and tariff the communal electricity is on. Managing agents (or whoever you pay your bill to) can make money in collusion with the utilities supplier by signing you up for some outrageously expensive tariff in return for a commission.
