Can we have a thread where we share unlikely but true stories?

I'll start.

My (non English speaking) DGF received an email (in English) from the solicitor of a man who claimed to be the son of a long lost relative from Africa claiming he was basically of princely status and there was an inheritance waiting for my DGF and his siblings.
So basically like the Nigerian prince scam.

Except it was all true and it was a relative who escaped my DGFs home country as he did not want to be drafted into the war and ended up never contacting anyone again and building a small empire in Africa, getting married (multiple times) and having DCs. He willed a small part of his accounts to my DGFs by then deceased mother who was his cousin and then it got passed down and split between my DGF and his siblings by default. Not life changing money but one of our favourite stories to tell!

The majority of the emails was done through google translate as well Grin

Does anyone have any "sounds like a lie but is true" stories they'd like to share?

@Cowbells it was a white BMW.

The driver was found and arrested. We didn't overtake a motorcyclist, in fact I don't think I ever have. They normally overtake me lol.

Maybe it’s not that interesting and I can’t go into full details for fear of being outed I guess. All the people I tell the story to though think it’s amazing. Ever read a contemporary romance? You know, like shit airport holiday novels? Well my life has been one with regards to my marriage.

Met when we were babies (literally months old)
BFFs forever.
Plot twist! We fell out.
Reunited.
Second chance romance.
Twist.
Turn.
More twists and turns.
Did he?
Oh no she didn’t!
And they all lived happily ever after the end.

Only, it’s a real marriage like everybody else’s but when people hear the story, they forget about all that and want to write to Hallmark to make the film...

I sometimes talk in my sleep and one night I was desperately yelling at DH to "tell the French to beware of the pencils". I said it over and over and over and over again and was really panicked. The Charlie Hebdo attack was the next day. #strangebuttrue

Anyone who read my shitting bird post may be interested to know I just had my latest delivery of luck, a year out two early at my reckoning. But I think we all need extra luck at the moment and I'm on my way to my covid jab, so I assume this means I won't get a blood clot?!
