To be irrationally freaking out due to using high Voc paint at 32 weeks pregnant

Me and Dc 6 have been painting the skirting boards using leyland eggshell paint
All fine until I saw on the tin it has a high voc content 25-50%
I'm irrationally panicking that I've done Damage as I'm pretty sure you shouldn't use them in pregnancy
And what about Dc poor lungs
The paint isn't giving off any fumes
Talk me down please Blush
I'm hoping the consensus is you're being ridiculous as I'd really like to finish the stairs today Grin

I thought eggshell wasn't as bad as gloss. If there's no fumes then it's fine

Its absolutly fine. You've not done DC's lungs any damage at all.
Baby will be fine too.

This was totally my worry a little while ago (week 12 of my pregnancy).

Try to put it in perspective - yes it is high VOC content, but the surface area that you’ve painted (skirting boards) is very small. Keep the area well ventilated for the solvents to off-gas in the next couple of days, and that should do the trick.

They do say to avoid solvent-based paint during pregnancy, but a one off non-occupational exposure shouldn’t cause huge issues, especially late into your pregnancy. Think of all the nasties that we breathe in everyday just by walking down the road, and the chemicals in plastics, cleaning products and cosmetics etc. It’s a bit of a minefield and impossible to avoid everything, so try not to worry. (I say that as though I’m cool, calm and collected - rest assured I had a good couple of days of irrational worrying before I got to this point!!)

For the rest of your woodwork, we’ve found a good water-based option by Crown (breatheasy) that might be a better pick?
