To get a pregnancy test or not?

Hi,
I recently had a baby, had my first period even though I'm bf late feb and dtd with dp beforehand. I've been awaiting for my second period and nothing has happened. Since I already had a period after dtd I know the chances of being pregnant are slim to none so I guess I need people on here to confirm to me I would be unreasonable to run out and get a test. I know when your bf hormones are all over the place and just assume I'm late? In terms of symptoms I've been having cravings galore and nausea but put that all down to post partum. AIBU? Should I get a test today to put my mind at ease? Dp thinks theres no way I'm pregnant but the wait for af is making me wonder Confused

When did you last have a period? If it was last week I wouldn't worry at the moment. If it was more than 30 days since your last period then you really ought to test.

Larahey · 07/04/2021 17:50

@CrazyOldBagLady last period was end of feb

What are you expecting from a bunch of strangers on the internet? We can’t reassure you. If you’re worried, get a test. It’s not hard

If you had unprotected sex and then had a period, why would you need a test?

Larahey · 07/04/2021 17:56

@Troyhelena I've had a period since then. That's why I'm asking if it's even worth getting a test since I thought having a period meant your not pregnant (minus the rare occasion)

@JosephineBaker my second period after birth hasnt come since. But yes I did have my first period and it was after I dtd. I thought that meant it was clear I'm not pregnant but these responses are making me even more confused

I think a lot of readers kind of glossed over that - I had to read it twice to make sure I’d followed the timeline.

Would you normally get a test even if you’d had a per? I wouldn’t. Some people have spotting etc in pregnancy but a full period means you aren’t pregnant.

Larahey · 07/04/2021 19:44

@JosephineBaker no if i had a period thats usually enough reassurance for me. Guess I'm just feeling all out of sorts and am abit worried since it's been 3 weeks now. I'm going to test anyway but I know likelihood is I'm not. Thanks for you advice Smile

No worries, @Larahey - if it gives you peace of mind it’s worth it.

My cycle went bonkers after each pregnancy, so don’t let it stress you out, it’s normal for it to be a bit erratic initially.

Look after yourself, and have a nice evening.

I think it's good you're going to take the test, it's worth it to know either way and then you can relax about it knowing for sure
