Hope it's ok to post this here. Would love to visit Belfast in October. Which is the best area to stay in? any recommendations what to see and what to avoid? Thankyou

That's great, thank you @hangryeyes

The Titanic Hotel uses the underground carpark opposite it. You hand your parking ticket in to get it validated as you check out so therefore you don't have to pay.

Good thread. I have a day - yes a whole day - to spend in Belfast in summer so I'll be spoilt for choice with how to spend it. Looks like a lovely city.

We love Belfast & have visited often. I first went way back in 1996 & it was a very very different place then & you had to have your wits about you & not end up in the wrong place at at wrong time

Its been so wonderful seeing the city spring back to life & really blossom over the past 15 years or so & it breaks my heart to see s that threatened by Brexit now

If you have kids travelling with you we can recommend Little Wings for great pizza.

If it's a more grown up break The Merchant is fab for lunch or cocktails. We stayed there & it was FAB - my dh particularly loved the whiskey bar with its huge menu!

They have a jazz bar too & we had a table for dinner/ drinks & live jazz booked but had to cancel die to illness & have never managed to do it since though it remains on my wish list

Belfast City Cemetry is worth a wander as a beautiful Victorian multidemoninational graveyard with some wonderful Victorian gothic headstones & a gorgeous contemporary sculpture there too. We spent a v enjoyable after noon wandering about there

Avoca is v good for lunch & browsing & the cathedral area is the best place to situate yourself.

Enjoy- you've inspired me to plan a trip back ourselves this summer!

@Cocolapew good point, was thinking most of the main hotels probably discount or validate parking in the nearest multi-storey car parks.

blubberyboo · 09/04/2021 23:22

Last time I stayed premier inn at cathedral quarter they offered a discount at high street multi storey car park a short walk away. Think it was £11 for 24 hours parking

Also loads of great pubs restaurants nearby: the dirty onion, thirsty goat, the Spaniard, Duke of York
City centre Hellcat Maggies good for cocktails
