Ring council over rubbish

Trixie1602 · 06/04/2021 13:19

The dentist adjacent to my property has rubbish all over their yard ( hopefully pic will be included when I post )

Normally , I'd say it's just rubbish & not to be bothered by it , but lately the street has had a increase in rats / mice Confused
Just on Saturday , my OH found one in the shed in our yard

I don't know whether to ring the council , & inform them or just go the dentist & ask them to clean up

AIBU in complaining or is it not as bad as it seems ?

There's one black bag not in a bin. The wood wouldn't cause rats. They are probably waiting for a collection.

AlCalavicci · 06/04/2021 13:55

How long has it been there ?
I am waiting for the council to remove some things from my house , i booked a appointment last week normally they come within a couple of days but this time I have to wait 14 working days .

dementedpixie · 06/04/2021 13:57

Doesn't look like rubbish that would attract rats as its not food waste.

AlCalavicci · 06/04/2021 13:58

On closer inspection it looks like building stuff , so perhaps a new layout to abide by covid rules .
In which case it is unlikely to cause rats / mice only food / drinks would do this

If it is on the dentists property, then the council will not collect it, if that's what you're expecting. They are a business so will either need to arrange a private collection or pay the council to collect it. (Which is probably why it is still there because they don't want to pay.)

You can report it to environmental health. But I very much doubt mice and rats have appeared because of building materials from a dentists.

GreyhoundG1rl · 06/04/2021 14:02

If it's on private property the council won't get involved.

Insomnia5 · 06/04/2021 14:03

Agree with everyone else. It’s just some building materials, wouldn’t attract rats or mice

Insomnia5 · 06/04/2021 14:03

And nowhere near bad enough to interest environmental health

skirk64 · 06/04/2021 14:05

Saying "the council won't get involved" is wrong. The council won't collect it all but have the power to order them to clean the place up.

That's true, but they won't do this for building detritus.

The yard has always been messy
I noticed it over Christmas when the garage door was up , but with having the rat then seeing the yard that's what has made me think of asking them to clean up

They are probably waiting for collection for the rubbish so I'll just leave it at that

Thank you everyone SmileSmile
