To ask about new Mirena coil and bleeding?

I know I am being a bit naughty using AIBU, but wanted some traffic Blush
Got mine on 10th March. Some bleeding for a bit then it settles. Then spotting and light pinkish bleeding for a week or so. Then period roughly when it should have arrived and much heavier than previous bleeding so I assume definitely due to cycle. But I'm still bleeding 10 days later. Lightly but had a gush that soaked through knickers and jeans just as I thought it was easing. Watery but some stringy small clots. I'm sorry. This is horrible to describe. Is this me having a clear out before they potentially stop? I've had it put in to try and stop periods and with them, my hormonal migraines I've posted about before
Any experience? Thank you for reading this

@MrsBDarcy

I was considering washable pads as I'm getting sore from sanitary towels I haven't had this kind of whoosh before so was a bit shocked
That's why I swapped as I was getting sore using pads daily 'just in case'.

I use innersy ones from Amazon which aren't for use without a tampon but are useful for catching what catches you out Grin

They were 3 pairs for £15 on a lightning deal.

I also looked at the modibody maxi ones which were £114 for 5 pairs Shock As well as natural reusable pads.

The only reason I didn't fork out is I live in hope they are going to stop or become light.

@MrsBDarcy

I'm having this one because of its potential to reduce and stop bleeding and hopefully take with it the fluctuations in hormones that set off my migraines. I feel a bit weary today though. I might get some iron. Is there any iron in chocolate?! 🤔
Dark chocolate is full of it Grin

I've bought some bamboo pads arriving tomorrow so that might be comfier. Hope so as I hate the waste and discomfort of the plastic sanitary towels

I've just had mine changed, first one was to stop continuous heavy bleeding (was borderline for a blood transfusion, I was so anaemic). It took about 3 - 6 months to settle down properly and then I had no period for four years. Bleeding crept back (incredibly lightly) as it neared the end and I had it changed last week. I've had a bit of bleeding so far but not much. I wish someone had recommended this when I was younger as it honestly changed my life!

itsgettingwierd · 04/04/2021 18:57

Ramsey I'm the same re iron deficiency. My heamaglobin was 7.1 end of last year but was normal in feb. However my ferritin was 6!

I think if mines still low and bleeding doesn't settle down I'll ask about transfusion being a possibility.

MazekeenSmith · 04/04/2021 19:04

The first few months was irritating with the random spotting but over the next year they dropped off to the point where I get one day of light bleeding every 5/6 weeks

Floralnomad · 04/04/2021 19:08

I had bleeding on and off for 6 months with the first and then was period free for about 2 years then I had to have it removed . I had a second one about a year later and bled almost constantly for 10 months before I gave up and had it taken out .

MrsBDarcy · 05/04/2021 20:07

Still bleeding but just taken delivery of my washable pads to DH's horror. He doesn't get it at all. I've had a little chat with him. He's thinking the new ones are the equivalent of the old mattress style when so far , quite comfy though I think you can see them through a jegging

I bled, on and off, for about three months. Then no bleeding at all.

buddy79 · 05/04/2021 21:27

I bled continuously for 9 months then gave up. Same with the implant. I may ask to give the copper coil a go. Sorry, hope your experience is better.

LoLo2020 · 13/04/2021 18:17

Had mine fitted last Thursday, light bleeding up until today and I've got full on cramping and very heavy bleeding, changing pad every 40 mins or so. Praying this element of it eases! Not nice.

StillCounting123 · 13/04/2021 18:29

OP, I was put on mini pill in first week of March for contraception (I can't have normal pill). Like you I have bled everyday since and I am fed up!!!

Never had a Mirena, but read the progesterone is the same in both....

Geranibum · 13/04/2021 18:48

I had a pinkish discharge and spotting for almost 6 months. Then it miraculously stopped and I haven't had a period since (8 years ago)

Polkadotpjs · 13/04/2021 20:11

I'm still bleeding and exhausted. Work is crap which doesn't help and dh doesn't really get how I can still be bleeding. Says it's outrageous. I tell you. If peri was a man thing it'd be sorted by now. Men wouldn't put up with it. I'm knackered and tearful and hoping is stops soon. Not sure what level is ok but this is like a light period with no sign of let up. Definitely needs a pad

Polkadotpjs · 13/04/2021 20:12

Name change fail but I'm not bothered!

Cheesewiz · 13/04/2021 20:25

I bled every day until I had it removed, only had it 2 months but I was suffering from vomiting/headache daily and I looked like I was 5 months pregnant.

torquewench · 13/04/2021 20:45

Mines due to be replaced in the next few weeks. It's a Mirena. Occasional (maybe once a year) very light/almist not there pinkish spotting. No periods, PMT or bloating for 5 years. One of the best things Ive done. Pre-coil I also used to get a lot of discharge every day (sorry TMI) and thats also stopped totally now.
