To not have my second vaccine if it's effectiveness only increases by 6.5%?

I read in the British Medical Journal yesterday that the second Astra Zeneca jab only increases its effectiveness by another 6.5%:

In light of all the current controversy around links to blood clots I think I might just stick with my first!

@JanuaryJonez

I didn't realise it was to do with longevity. Thanks for the info!
So you didn't even bother to read the link you posted? Hmm

Wow. I didn’t realise there were people that are so naive. There is absolutely no link to blood clots other than a political made up storm created by the EU to cover up their own incompetence. Get your second dose and be grateful to AZ instead of spouting crap that you clearly didn’t even read all over the internet.

proopher · 03/04/2021 11:54

Would be interesting to know whether all these people not getting the vaccine due to blood clot risk will also be coming off the pill!

I would read the article you have linked to then.
PandaFluff · 03/04/2021 11:56

@titchy ah sorry saw you just made the same point.

JanuaryJonez · 03/04/2021 12:37

Erm...lots of anger on here.

But thanks to the people who gave constructive advice. It was just a question.

OP posts:

I think you need both or you lose the protection plus you won’t get a passport for covid if they come about

Plus you’ll need to start again with two vaccines

No research has been done on the mix and match approach.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/04/2021 12:43

You have come back and said you didn't know about the longevity benefit OP. Ignore anyone after that. People sometimes just post without reading the thread. I know I am often guilty of that myself Grin

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 03/04/2021 12:59

I wonder if for travelling abroad having only one dose may restrict you and some countries either not accept you visiting, or insist on longer or some quarantine.

CarrieBlue · 03/04/2021 13:03

So I’m having to wait and wait because second vaccines are prioritised over vaccinating under 50s, and you think you won’t bother with your second? Thanks for that.
