Sticking head above parapet to ask. Aibu to be frustrated that Tesco answer to racists using their cards is to remove all monkey cards from sale.

I have mixed race children.
My eldest was born in the year of the monkey.
Every year we get him a birthday card with a monkey on it.
Yesterday I was told by the card lady that they had removed all cards with monkeys on due to a complaint that one had been sent with a racist message inside.
F f s!!!
Racism is the problem. It is never acceptable.
Taking birthday cards with monkeys on the front off sale isn't the answer.
Sorry rant over.
Went to different shop and found a monkey card.

@ghostyslovesheets

I'd like to check if this is actually true being told 'by the lady' doesn't seem akin to a Tesco press release to be honest
I don't think this is a publicised story.

It's a goady thread started by the OP, saying Tesco should stop selling cards with monkeys on them, to stop RACISTS buying them.

I don't think it went the way she hoped.

Never mind, there are several more threads similar to this, started by people who seem to want to cause discord on the boards, by posting stuff about race. (Well, accusing white people of being racist, which is their agenda and the discussion they want...)

So I am sure the OP will find somewhere to vent her spleen, and squeal about how racist all white people are.

This thread is crazy
If you want a monkey card so desperately - make one

I actually can’t believe you started a thread on this !!!

I think Tesco have overreacted but I couldn't get worked up about it. Sites like Moonpig let you upload your own photo to make a personalised card and children love them! I would do that in future.

Wow how the internet misunderstands.
I am a white woman.

I just honestly could not believe that one complaint could cause Tesco to take this step.

As I explained up thread I was hoping for people to give me an alternative point of view no hold barred as it has for the last nearly 20 years.
It has done that.

It has also pointed out that I heard it from one employee rather than the corporation so not necessarily national policy.
