Rentokil quoting £5.5k to eliminate moths -- isn't that rather dear?

We've had moths for a year in a 3-bed house. I notice ten or twenty of the fat blisters hanging about on the walls every night when I go to bed in our bedrooms at the mo. Don't know where they're coming from. They appeared when DH decided to reorganise all our books during Lockdown 1. We got Rentokil round today to quote for getting rid of them. They quoted £5.5k for five fumigation sprays, which have to happen once a week and we have to stay out for four hours minimum afterwards. Doesn't sound very safe. On the fourth week, they bring their 'heat pod', which all our clothes (family of 4), duvets, sheets, go into and it heats them to 60 degrees centigrade, for an hour.
I know moths are tenacious little bastards. But am I being unreasonable to think there must be a cheaper/less toxic way? NO - I have solved this problem without emptying my bank account and spraying my house with neurotoxins, here's how; YES - This is the only way, I speak from bitter experience.

You can fumigate yourself. The smoke bombs aren't too expensive. You can also buy special sprays for the carpets. Check amazon and ebay

We were quoted £450 to get rid of a wasps nest by Rentokil Shock we asked on Facebook local and a lovely young lad came round and sorted it for £40.

If their moth removal services are as effective as their damp proofing services, definitely don't bother. Not only will the service be overpriced and not work, they will wiggle out of all guarantees afterwards.

OP if you say what are you are in MNers might be able to recommend someone. I know a good pest control guy if you are anywhere near Farnborough Hampshire/Camberley Surrey. And he won't charge you £5500!

Poor moths Sad
You wouldn't say that if you've ever had flour moths. They were in every bag of rice, flour and spices in the cupboard. Moths poured out of the boxes of arborio rice and any open bags had moth eggs (like spider's webs) all over the openings.

Any open bags had to be thrown away. All food like that is now kept in sealed containers or the fridge (for flour). But it took months of cleaning the shelves with vinegar to get rid of them.

Our moths were breeding in very long, full, velvet curtains, I ripped out every pair of curtains in the house and burnt them.
Moths were also breeding under layers of old wallpaper behind a fitted bookcase with a false back, we only found them when we pulled the bookcase out and stripped the paper off to Re plaster the wall. Horrible
