To feel pissed of about this work situation

I'll try and keep this short and have namechanged as will be outing.
I am one of 4 managers who all are responsible for different sites and a fair sized team. The way the company is structured we have 2 managers above us.
Prior to Christmas we were told that there must be 2 managers in at all times so only 2 could have annual leave at ones. Recently this seems to have gone out the window and 3 managers have been allowed to have the same time off meaning that 1 manager is left responsible for the rest of the teams and sites.
It seems to be that majority of the time it is me that will be left with this responsibility as all other managers have booked the same weeks off. I have already completed one stint of this during January.
This last week my colleague has been left to manage all the teams. They are much more experienced in the role than me.
I had to log on yesterday to do a quick check of bits and saw that they had been receiving a lot of support from the 2 higher managers. They have been having daily check in meetings, help with managing team members etc - now this is completely how it should be however my issue is I didn't get any of this...
My week I was told to get on with it. The managers didn't check in, they didn't offer to help with the teams and we certainly did not have daily meetings! Im feeling a bit annoyed about this as the week that I did we were absolutely swamped with work as January is our busy period.
I'm not sure if I'm just being silly or not but to me they are showing that this colleague is treated better. As I say they have years more experience than me and have been doing this particular post for a number of years compared to my 1.
AIBU to be pissed off about it?

YANBU but you need to speak up.

Palavah · 01/04/2021 09:19

YANBU.

When you're back I'd ask that manager how she made it work and then contact the senior managers to put in place the same for when you are holding the fort.

Cassilis · 01/04/2021 09:22

YANBU, you need to raise this. Is there any clique stuff / sexism going on?

tttigress · 01/04/2021 09:25

I'm not really sure what you are complaining about.

That more than 2 people were off, or that the 1 manager got support.

I think you have a legit complaint that more than 2 people were off (but you were one of those people!!)

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 01/04/2021 09:28

Can you not raise it? Not in a 'that's not fair!' way but in a 'great idea, can we implement this for any manager that's on their own in the future as it sounds really helpful' way.

But maybe she asked for help, or maybe they don't think she is as capable

pandapig · 01/04/2021 09:29

@Cassilis I feel there is defo a clique that I'm not part of. I'm the newest manager in and my team tends to be the problem child - just the nature of the individuals that I inherited!
I'm constantly overlooked and ignored and I hate it but I am grateful to have a job!
Sad thing is I really enjoy it but just hate that I'm treated differently

@tttigress that there is an unfair level of support given to one manager.

This week is the only week that I have off at the same time as others (I booked it in the summer before anyone else so it wasn't the case I knew people had time off)

There are 5 occasions between next week and July that I will be the only manager in and in some cases the two higher managers will also be off so one week I'm completely alone

They might have years on you, but are they actually capable? Maybe they needed the help.

Cassilis · 01/04/2021 09:35

I would speak to your manager about this. Are they supportive?

I would also email them about these upcoming 5 occasions where o=you're the only one on duty and ask why this is being allowed as it's not in line with policy.
